Surprisingly, some of the new camera features are released for the Galaxy S21 series as well which are listed in Galaxy S22’s August 2022 update release notes.
As confirmed by users in the Korean community, the Galaxy S21 series devices are receiving a big August 2022 firmware update with new camera and Message app features. Similar to the Galaxy S22, the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra owners also get Telephoto lens support in rear hyperlapse mode.
In addition, the QR code scanning-related features and changes are also being applied to the Galaxy S21 series with the new August 2022 update. Right now, the software update rollout is taking place in South Korea, which is likely to reach global regions, very soon.
Post update installation, the Galaxy S21 series smartphone users will be able to use the Telephoto sensor in Hyperlapse mode for new photography experiences. In addition to this, the improvements applied for QR scanning functionality also take user experience to the next level.
Aside from camera features, there are two new features/changes in the Messages function as well. Now, you can collect multiple images and view them when sending or receiving them to/from someone. Moreover, the update also activates notification registration in group chat.
It’s worth mentioning that the new August 2022 update included a handful of important camera optimizations as well, however, the Galaxy S21’s changelog suggests that optimizations are limited to the Galaxy S22 series devices. We expect the company might apply them as well in future releases.
