Samsung has officially introduced the ECG and Blood Pressure features on its smartwatches since Galaxy Watch Active 2. These are two of the essential features of the smartwatches and every Galaxy smartwatch comes with these features since then.

These features were primarily released for the South Korean variants of the Galaxy smartwatches and then expanded to many other countries. However, there are still some regions where the company is not providing these features, and one of the major Samsung markets, India is one of them.

Galaxy Watch 5 ECG BP features India

Samsung’s all-new Galaxy Watch 5 series also comes with ECG and BP measurement features in many countries but not in India, as reported by TizenHelp. It looks like the Indian variant of the device is still not compatible to obtain these upgraded features.

While the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro are already up for pre-orders in many countries, these will start on August 16 in India. Ahead of this, Amazon India has listed these watches and teased the products in the “Coming soon” category.

This listing also mentions the features and specifications of the Indian version of the wearables. There are a lot of features that can be seen but there is no glimpse of the ECG and BP features.

On the other hand, Samsung’s official website also mentions that the features are limited to select countries, however, it has not noted the names of those unlucky countries’ customers. It’s worth mentioning the BP function is not even available in the United States.

Samsung’s Wear OS watches could soon get standalone RCS support

Samsung Galaxy Watch Wallet app

Your Samsung Galaxy Watch could soon get standalone RCS support. Google is preparing to roll out standalone RCS to Wear OS smartwatches with a future Messages app update. Galaxy Watch users will also benefit alongside Pixel Watch users.

EU forced Apple to adopt the RCS messaging standard in its iOS. The decision brought rich communication standard features into the limelight. Now, Google is working to enhance RCS usability on its Wear OS platform.

AndroidAuthority discovered some flags within Google Messages v20240926, suggesting standalone RCS arrival on Wear OS. The addition of new flags suggests that the company is preparing to roll out independent RCS support.

At present Wear OS doesn’t support native RCS messaging on watches. You need to keep your watch paired to the smartphone to send and receive messages. An updated Google Messages version would address the support concern.

Google Messages on Wear OS indeed has a relatively smaller user base than Android. Since smartwatches have small screens, users refrain from typing longer text while replying, still, it’s a welcome move slated to end lack of support.

The move is to make Google Messages function the same as WhatsApp. The latter is available as a native application on Wear OS, whereas Google Messages on Wear OS essentially mirrors the Google Messages app on your phone.
