At the Galaxy Unpacked Event today, Samsung has officially launched the most awaited Galaxy Z Flip 4 smartphone, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The new clamshell foldable smartphone comes with some advanced technologies including hardware as well as software.

It has a slightly larger rear display and bigger battery life when compared to the predecessor Galaxy Z Flip 3. On the other hand, it equips the most latest Qualcomm flagship processor and the foldable-specified One UI 4.1.1 software system.

Display:
The new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 comes with a 6.7 inches Dynamic AMOLED 2x display that offers a 1080 x 2640 pixels resolution. The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate and uses an improved ultra-thin glass as a protective cover.
On the back side, the device has a small display that is capable of not only displaying the notification and other common information but can also be used as a full-surface viewfinder for the main cameras for self-portraits, replying to text messages, making calls, and access Samsung Pay. This displays a 1.9 inches AMOLED screen with 512 x 269 pixels resolution, which is a bit larger than the predecessor.
Processor:
The device is powered by a 4nm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset which is the improved version of the current top processors from Qualcomm. This chipset is paired with 8GB RAM that comes in three memory variants – 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB.
Software:
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 introduces all-new One UI 4.1.1 custom software skin which is based on Android 12L. The new version is specially customized for foldable phones and thus, offers some advanced features to take the foldable experience to the next level.
On the other hand, the smartphone supports the company’s new software update policy which is four major Android 0S upgrades and 5 years of security patches.
Camera:
The camera department of the phone is amazing as well, the device has the same camera specs as the previous version but with improved quality.

Samsung gives four primary color options for the device, such as Grey Green, Bora Purple, Graphite, and Pink Gold. Meanwhile, it also has a total of 75 Bespoke editions to allow customers to completely control the look of their device.
The device is available for pre-order from today and the sale will start on August 26. The price starts at $999.

Biden rushes CHIPS Act deals ahead of Trump’s presidency
Samsung is trying to secure CHIPS Act subsidies before Donald Trump takes charge. Joe Biden introduced CHIPS and Science Act to boost semiconductor business on American soil. However, the President-elect is a big critic of the CHIPS Act.
Bloomberg reports that the Biden administration is rushing to finalize CHIPS Act agreements with Intel and Samsung. Notably, Samsung and Intel are set to receive direct subsidies of $6.4 billion and $8.5 billion, respectively.
During his election campaign, President-elect Trump heavily mocked the CHIPS and Science Act. It is expected that Trump could put tariff on semiconductor manufacturers and nullify subsidies before disbursment.
Concerns have arisen that semiconductor companies, which have invested heavily in the U.S. over the past four years, might not receive subsidies, or that U.S. companies like Intel could be prioritized.
Intel is an American company, which could be unaffected by Trump’s presidency. As the President-elect prefers an “America First” policy, it’s an alarming situation for Samsung Electronics, which bases its headquarters in South Korea.
Since the CHIPS and Science Act is considered a key industrial policy of the Biden administration, this move is seen as an effort to finalize binding contracts and distribute promised subsidies before the administration changes.
