Samsung continues its global rollout of the July 2025 security update for the Galaxy S25 series, with Canadian users now receiving the latest software update following the initial release in Korea and the United States.

Samsung July 2025 update details

The July 2025 security update for Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra carries the One UI build versions S931WVLS5AYE7, S936WVLS5AYE7, and S938WVLS5AYE7, respectively. Users will need to download approximately 600MB to install the update.

The latest July 2025 security patch update addresses as many as 40 known security vulnerabilities, with Samsung claiming that one major security loophole has been fixed with the update. The update fixes 1 critical and 21 high-level security issues found in Android, while also including 17 additional fixes from Samsung (SVE items) to improve privacy and security on Galaxy devices.

The update mainly improves Knox security, the Galaxy Watch system interface, Samsung Account, Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth, Emergency SOS, and more.

Where is it rolling out

The update is currently available for users in Korea, US, and Canada. Following Samsung’s typical staged rollout pattern, the update will soon reach global users.

Canadian Galaxy S25 users can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings > Software Update > Download and install. It is an initial rollout, so it may take some hours to days to reach all models.

What’s next?

This is probably the last update for the Galaxy S25 before Samsung rolls out One UI 8. The stable Android 16-based update is expected to start rolling out in August. As of now, Samsung One UI 8 beta testing is already in progress for the Galaxy S25 series in select markets.

Samsung users in Canada have been unlucky when it comes to fast One UI rollouts, so we need to see what happens this time.

One UI 8 Watch news put Galaxy Watch 4 in spotlight, then came the twist

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Plugin update

Samsung recently confirmed the One UI 8 Watch update for the Galaxy Watch 4 series, but the latest move raised eyebrows. The smartwatches are starting to receive a new software update, which brings a patch from the past.

Galaxy Watch 4 and Classic are getting a new update in July that installs the May 2025 security patch. The software indeed brings security improvements, but not the latest, and what’s more, we can expect from a 4-year-old wearable.

One UI 6 Watch-based May 2025 patch is available for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Classic. It can be identified via PDA build version ending with IYE9. The software weighs 125 megabytes, and the patch is dated May 2025.

You can use the Galaxy Wearable app to install the latest update.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch 4 series in August 2021. It was the first smartwatch line from the brand, which marked a major shift from Tizen OS to Wear OS. Samsung then committed to four years of software updates and support for the watches.

It’s mid-July, and One UI 8 Watch Beta is just available for the Galaxy Watch 7 and Ultra. Samsung is preparing to expand the Beta Program to the Watch 6 and Watch 5 series, with the Watch 4 would directly receiving the Stable update.

One UI 8 Watch is indeed coming to the Watch 4, but the lineup will be reaching its end-of-life timeline next month. Following launch in August 2021, the Watch 4 will hit 4 years of its worldwide release next month, as well as the end of support.

Samsung July 2025 security patches rolling out already but still almost everyone waiting for it, why

Published

Samsung February 2025 security Patch details

You have probably seen the headlines – Samsung’s July 2025 security patches are “rolling out.” But if you’re like most Galaxy users worldwide, you’re still staring at your phone wondering where your software update is. Here’s why this frustrating situation happens every single month.

Samsung always starts with South Korea, and there’s a good reason for this. It’s Samsung’s home market, so the users in the country get priority treatment. It’s like Samsung testing software updates on familiar ground before sending to global users.

After Korea, the rollout follows a fixed pattern: major European markets like Germany and the UK come next, followed by North America, then the Asia-Pacific regions, including India. Places like Latin America and Africa typically wait the longest.

Here’s what most people don’t understand: Samsung can’t just push software updates to everyone at once. You can argue how Apple can do this, they have a similar user base? I have an answer for that, too. Apple can do simultaneous global releases because it controls both the hardware and software completely, but Samsung works in a more complex ecosystem.

There’s also the carrier problem. In many countries, especially the US, carriers need to test and approve software updates before sending out to your phone. Some carriers are faster than others, which is why your friend with an unlocked phone might get updates weeks before you do. In addition, different countries also have different regulatory requirements.

Whenever you see any headlines claiming the updates are “rolling out,” it usually means Samsung has started the process somewhere in the world, typically Korea. But there’s a huge difference between “started rolling out” and “actually available to most people.” It’s not that the reports are wrong, but just not telling the whole story.

If you are in the US with a carrier phone, expect to wait longer than someone in Germany with an unlocked device. That’s just how Samsung’s system works.

Samsung’s staggered rollout isn’t meant to annoy you. Yes, it’s frustrating to wait, but your July 2025 security patch will arrive eventually. Samsung hasn’t forgotten about you.

Let me know what you think about Samsung’s software policy. I am available on X handle @SamsungSWUpdate.
