Google Play Store 31.5.17 update rolling out
Google Play Store started receiving a new update following the start of the new month. The latest version of the Google Play Store update is 31.5.17, which will be gradually available to consumers using Android OS-based smartphones.
Usually, the US tech giant offers timely functional improvements to the world’s biggest app market. Like always, release notes are not available for the Google Play Store 31.5.17 build, however, an updated version had already released to select consumers later last month.

As part of its 10th anniversary, Google Play received a re-imagined logo, that was applied with the earlier application update. And recently, it is reported that the new logo is now showing in notifications as well, bringing a new feel to bored Android consumers.

Android 13
It’s expected that the Google Play Store will become more convenient with the arrival of the major Android 13 operating system. Meanwhile, the company is reportedly delaying the release of the Android 13 official version to next month, September 2022 patch notes revealed.
One UI 5 Beta
Samsung has recently announced the Android 13-based One UI 5 Beta testing program for the Galaxy S22 series smartphone users in South Korea. The activity is not available to every consumer, however, we are guessing it broader availability very soon.
Google is set to release a new feature named ‘hide clutter’ to the Photos app for a simplified user interface. The function will allow users to maintain a cleaner main photo feed by hiding screenshots, memes, and more
The Hide Clutter feature was discovered in strings of the latest version (6.79.0.624777117) of Google Photos by PiunikaWeb. Once activated, it will automatically hide backed-up photos that fall under the clutter category.
The new feature will not delete these images but will hide them from the main view. Although they will remain accessible in their specific folders.
In addition, the Memories section is being redesigned to offer a better experience. For users in the United States, the Photos app offers AI-generated title suggestions for their memories, adding a touch of personalization and creativity.
With the introduction of ‘hide clutter’ and the existing Photo Stacks feature, Google Photos users now have two powerful tools to keep their photo collections organized and appealing.

Google is planning to introduce a new feature for Wear OS that will allow app permissions to be synchronized between an Android smartphone and a Wear OS smartwatch.
Initially hidden within the Pixel Watch companion app, the feature will allow users to grant permissions on their phone, which will then automatically apply to their smartwatch. The “Sync permissions from phone” option is part of a new “Device details” submenu within the companion app.
According to the information via the Google News channel, the new feature is developed to simplify the user experience by removing the need to individually set permissions for apps on different devices.
For example, if a user allows a navigation app to access their location on their phone, the same permission will be set on the smartwatch without any additional steps.
While the “Sync permissions from phone” option remains inactive for now, its activation could significantly enhance the Wear OS experience. This feature is expected to extend beyond the Pixel Watch to other Wear OS devices.

Google Maps is now using the system share sheet on devices running Android 14, following other Google apps such as Chrome and Photos. This change signifies a withdrawal of the custom share interface previously used by the app and available in Google Maps version 11.122.x.
With the new system share interface in Android 14, users are presented with a more detailed link preview that includes the name of the location and an image. It also offers a direct share option with contacts and a more organized apps grid, with the “Maps: Add to list” feature prominently displayed.
In addition, Google Maps has improved accessibility by adding a share button to the full listing view, making it easier and quicker to share than before.
The older version of the share feature displayed a full-screen user interface, with a share button and an option to close at the top. It also showed the user’s profile information in the corner as part of a “Sharing as” feature.
The interface allowed for quick typing of a name, phone number, or email, followed by a carousel of suggested contacts and app shortcuts, including the ever-useful “Copy to clipboard” and an option to access more apps.
