How to remove Samsung color palette from app icons

Color Palette is the modern way to personalize your Galaxy phone. Your Samsung phone’s system picks up the dominant color palette whenever you apply a new wallpaper or theme and spreads it as accent colors to the complete user interface, including app icons.

The quick settings panel, volume panel, app interface, settings page, etc look great when the color palette is applied but the home screen and app drawer don’t. Samsung color palette only supports the Samsung applications therefore, it only applies to these app icons.

But it is not at all that our Samsung phones have only the company’s apps, we also use Google and other third-party apps. And the app drawer of Galaxy phones looks really bad when one theme is applied to half the app icons and not the rest.

Fortunately, the company allows you to not apply the color palette to any app icon so the complete app drawer can look similar. On the other hand, it’s expected that the upcoming Android 13-based One UI 5.0 will apply a color palette to third-party apps as well.

How to remove color palette from app icons:

  • Open your device Settings.
  • Tap on the Wallpaper and Style options.
  • Choose Color Palette.
  • Now, you can choose a palette based on colors from your wallpaper.
  • By clicking on the different palettes, you can preview the changes on the screen.
  • If you don’t want to change app icons’ colors as per the palette then you can turn off Apply palette to the app icons toggle.
  • Finally, tap the Done option.

Step 2:

Take one of the dust removal stickers and gently use it to eliminate any remaining dust or foreign substances from the screen. This will ensure the protector sticks properly without bubbles or imperfections.

Step 3:

Carefully peel the first protective film labeled 1 from its backing, located near the middle. Turn the film over and place it on the screen, securing it in the applicator’s groove. Be cautious not to touch the adhesive side. Align the camera hole with the top of the phone screen and press gently to fix it temporarily.

Step 5:

Repeat the process with the other part of the protective film for the lower part of the screen. Use the squeegee to push the film from left to right to ensure it is fixed securely.

Step 6:

Peel off the transparent protective film and wipe the screen with the microfiber cloth to remove any streaks. If a line appears in the center of the screen, don’t worry this will fade after a short period.

Go back to stability: Downgrading from One UI 7 Beta to stable One UI 6.1 on Galaxy S24 in the US

Published

on

One UI 7.0
If you joined the One UI 7 beta program on your Galaxy S24 in the US and want to return to the stable One UI 6.1, here’s an easy guide to do it safely.

The One UI 7 beta program specifically rolled out for the Samsung Galaxy S24 series in the US, promised early access to new features and improvements. However, beta software often comes with some bugs, glitches, and performance issues which can lead to frustration.

Trying new software might seem fun initially, but it can get old fast if it makes your phone less reliable. Since we don’t know when One UI 7 will be stable, returning to One UI 6.1 is a smart choice for many.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to downgrade your Galaxy S24 from One UI 7 Beta back to One UI 6.1:

1. Backup Your Data:

  • Before you start, ensure all your data is backed up. Use the Samsung Smart Switch on both your phone and a computer to save your photos, contacts, apps, and settings.
  • Connect your phone to the computer via USB, open Smart Switch, and select ‘Backup’.

2. Withdraw from the Beta Program:

  • Open the Samsung Members app on your phone.
  • Look for the One UI Beta Program status in the settings or at the top of the app.
  • Select “Withdraw” and follow the prompts. This step ensures you won’t receive further beta updates.

3. Use Smart Switch to Downgrade:

  • After withdrawing from the beta, go back to Smart Switch on your computer.
  • With your phone still connected, you should now see a “Downgrade” option. Click on it.
  • Confirm the downgrade process by accepting the terms and conditions. Smart Switch will then download and install the stable One UI 6.1 firmware.

4. Reset Your Phone:

Note that this process will perform a factory reset. Once the downgrade is complete, your phone will reboot into recovery mode where you will need to select ‘Wipe data/factory reset‘ to finalize the process.

5. Restore Your Data:

After the reset, use Smart Switch again to restore your backed-up data to your phone.

Important:

This method is for Galaxy S24 users who enrolled in the beta via the Samsung Members app. If you manually flashed the beta (using methods like Odin), you might need to flash back to One UI 6.1 using the same tool.
