With the Galaxy S22 series flagships, Samsung has heavily increased the use of Qualcomm chipsets, while, the latest multiyear agreement confirms that the former will further expand usage of Snapdragon chipset, and it’s aimed to be over 76% on Galaxy S23 series.
According to the information, Qualcomm Prez and CEO – Cristiano Amon confirmed that Snapdragon will power upcoming Samsung flagships including the Galaxy S23 series, worldwide. The official disclosed that the Korean tech giant used around 75% Snapdragon chips for the Galaxy S22, while it could go beyond.
“And what I can say at this point is we were 75% on Galaxy S22 before the agreement. You should be thinking about we’re going to be much better than that on Galaxy S23 and beyond.”
The report reveals that Qualcomm and Samsung have reached a multiyear agreement that will bring upcoming Galaxy devices with Snapdragon chipsets globally. It suggests the Korean tech maker is likely to discontinue Exynos chipsets until its Galaxy-exclusive chip could arrive by 2025.
The US chipmaker revealed that the use of Snapdragon chipsets was about 40% before the agreement, while it climbed up to 75% with the Galaxy S22 series phones. Following this agreement, Qualcomm chips will debut with future Samsung flagships across the globe, instead of Exynos ones.

Flagship phones to get more pricey as Samsung hikes camera sensor prices
Camera-centric flagship smartphones could be expensive as Samsung has increased the price of ISOCELL image sensors. As camera sensors are one of the most expensive parts, it could increase the price of 2024 flagships.
While companies are working hard to improve the smartphone camera experience, flagship models with cameras as their core selling point are likely to become more expensive. The main reason is that Samsung has increased the price of its components.
The smartphone industry has slowed down over the past few years, leaving manufacturers involved in component production with excess inventory. Samsung is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of CMOS sensors, which are used in its own phones and those of other brands.
As the smartphone market slowly grows, Samsung has reportedly sent notices to phone manufacturers to increase the price of its imaging sensors by 25%. The new prices may take effect in early 2024. Samsung’s increase in the price of imaging sensors will mainly affect sensors of 32 million pixels and above.
This could force smartphone manufacturers to increase the cost of high-end smartphones. Meanwhile, Samsung’s rivals in the field, Sony and OmniVision, have yet to announce price increases.
