T-Mobile releases Galaxy S21 July 2022 security update in the US

T-Mobile has started pushing a new software update for the Samsung Galaxy S21 series smartphones that brings the July 2022 Android security patch to the United States. This update doesn’t come with any major changes but only installs some minor improvements to maintain the users’ experience.

Going by the information, the latest update for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra come with One UI build version G991USQU5CVG4, G996USQU5CVG4, and G998USQU5CVG4 respectively. It holds a package size of around 310MB.

Furthermore, the T-Mobile locked Samsung Galaxy S21 consumers are getting July 2022 security patch with improved system security and reliability. The firmware further fixes bunches of privacy and security-related issues and exploits in order to boost the overall device’s performance.

These vulnerabilities include over 50 CVE and SVE items from Google and Samsung, which are related to the Samsung Messages app, Knoxguard lock, Wearable Manager Installer, Samsung Finder, Contacts storage, and more. It might also upgrade Samsung stock apps to further enhance the functionality of your device.

How to download the update:

To fetch the fresh software update to your phone, head over to its Settings. Scroll down to enter the Software update section then tap the Download and install option. Wait for the device to check available updates, hit the Download button, and then follow the instructions mentioned on your Galaxy S21 screen.

A Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra user spotted the test build of the next major update. This firmware is either Android 12L-based One UI 4.1.1 or Android 13-based One UI 5.0, which will be released shortly. The firmware is testing in the UK and it carries the One UI build version G998BXXU5DVGA. Read more
