Samsung starts testing One UI 5.0/One UI 4.1.1 for Galaxy S21 in UK

It’s the third week of July and according to previous reports, Samsung can release the first Android 13-based One UI 5.0 beta for Galaxy S22 series anytime. After the Galaxy S22, the Samsung Galaxy S21 series is most eligible to get the One UI 5.0 beta update, and reportedly the company has started testing it in the UK.

In the meantime, the company is also gearing up to release Android 12L-based One UI 4.1.1 which is confirmed to debut on August 10. This version is especially meant for large-screen devices and will provide some of its functionalities to regular Galaxy phones too.

In a recent development, a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra user spotted the test build of the next major update on a hidden application called Checkfirm. However, it can’t be clarified whether it’s Android 13-based One UI 5.0 beta/stable or Android 12-based One UI 4.1.1.

Going by the information shared by the user, Samsung Galaxy S21 One UI 5.0/One UI 4.1.1 update is testing in the UK and it carries the One UI build version G998BXXU5DVGA. It should also be mentioned that the test build did not reveal the release time of the update. Although it suggests that the company will not take much time to deliver any of these updates to the users.

Android 12L-based One UI 4.1.1

Samsung has officially confirmed to hold a Galaxy Unpacked event on August 10 to unveil Galaxy Z4 foldable phones running One UI 4.1.1. Since the new custom OS is based on Android 12L, it will introduce some new features including a new two-column interface for the notification shade and a new taskbar UI for improved multitasking.

Android 13-based One UI 5.0

One UI 5.0 on the other hand is based on the brand new Android 13 OS. It will bring smoother animations and new customization options along with multiple new features like swipe gestures for multitasking, redesigned notification panel, improved Material You, etc.
