In a recent report by Korean media TheElec, it is reported that Samsung distributors have a smartphone stock of up to 50 million units, while a large part of them are mid-range Galaxy A series phones.

According to the information, this year, the South Korean tech giant is aiming to ship around 270 million smartphones, 50 million of which account for 18%. The relatively healthy figure is around 10%, as high as 18 % of the inventory shows that Samsung is suffering from slow smartphone demand.

In January and February 2022, the company produced about 20 million smartphones per month, but, production slipped to 10 million in May, likely due to excess inventory and low demand.

In Q4, 2021, Samsung had set an ambitious annual production target of about 334 million units for 2022. In terms of shipments, the target will be around 300 million units, but this year, the demand for smartphones is lower than expected, so Samsung slashed component orders from its suppliers by 30% to 70% in April and May.

Recently, it was reported that Samsung temporarily stopped new purchase orders earlier this month and asked multiple suppliers to delay or reduce component shipments for several weeks due to concerns about high inventories and global inflation.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: Neither 200MP HP3 nor UDC?

Published

on

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Just a few days back, it was reported that Samsung may upgrade the front camera resolution of the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus next year. Meanwhile, a user’s Naver blog post suggests that supply chain sources are sure that Samsung won’t use 200MP HP3 and the UDC (under-display camera) tech in the Galaxy S23 series.

Other than this, the user didn’t mention why the Galaxy S23 series won’t support the under-display camera and what’s the reason Samsung is hesitant to adopt this technology. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 was the first UDC phone released by Samsung but the quality of this camera is quite cheap.

That is why the mass production of under-screen cameras will be a very risky move for Samsung at the moment as the shipments of the new generation Galaxy S23 may be greatly affected. Well, we hope the under-display camera tech will be adopted by Samsung as well as soon as it matures.

Moreover, rumors are there that the Galaxy S24 series may use under display camera technology, which is basically the same period as the Apple iPhone 16 series. Do note that the Galaxy S23 Ultra is expected to use Samsung’s first generation ISOCELL HP1 200MP image sensor.

Recently, a tipster revealed that Samsung is considering a 12MP front-facing camera sensor for the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus. Also, the company is mass producing the 200MP image sensors that will be used by non-Galaxy phones.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Although the design shows three rear cameras, there’s a giant camera that will surely be able to capture perfect shots. This design also reveals a 200MP, however, it’s not the recently launched Samsung ISOCELL HP3.

On Galaxy S23 Ultra, the company will use its first-gen 200MP camera which is ISOCELL HP 1. This is because the new sensor is judged as a lower model than the previous one due to its smaller size. Whatever the case would be, the device’s camera is going to be the company’s another hit.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Waterfall display

With this year’s S-Ultra model, Samsung provided slightly curved edges. While the Galaxy S23 Ultra will bring a more curved display. Also, the rumor that claimed the device will equip an under-display front camera has ended with this render as it shows a punch-hole selfie shooter.

Apart from these, the Galaxy S23 Ultra supports the S Pen which has an in-body compartment. It will have a Type-C port for charging and will not have a 3.5mm audio jack like its predecessor. Also, it’s worth mentioning that the new device has ditched the S22 Ultra’s non-camera module design.
