Samsung Display which is a display manufacturing wing of Samsung Electronics is completely shutting down the manufacturing operations of the unprofitable Liquid Crystal Display Panels from June 2022. Samsung was operating this manufacturing facility for 30 years in Asan, South Chungcheong Province. Planning this from a long time and finally decided to close it.
Samsung Display is doing this to mitigate the great loss that is been ramping due to increased state tax and to get rid of those unnecessary efforts. As the Chinese competitors are already in the market and are raising their dominance in OLED and QLED manufacturing market. Samsung needs to focus on its frontline components and products.
At present time LCD usage is very negligible and it seems to be a business of complete loss as compared to those cutting edge components like a light-emitting diode and quantum dot display panels that are foreseen as a trending future.
We should mark this piece of information as the end of a three-decade-old LCD panel supplier business. I think it is a very smart decision by Samsung, as the price of these panels has already fallen down from 46% to 50%, which really does not make any sense to produce them anymore.
If we talk about the market share of such displays has already shrunken from 22% to 2%. After the reduction in operating profits Samsung Display was hanging in between the decision, but now finally Samsung Electronics has decided to discontinue its production.
Filmed by Galaxy S22 Ultra, ‘Jackals and Fireflies’ unveiling at Samsung Unpacked
Samsung partnered with Oscar-winning writer and director Charlie Kaufman to show how you can take advantage of Galaxy flagship smartphones’ camera capabilities. Kaufman took advantage of Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra’s filming features to create a short visual art film in beautiful, crystal-clear detail.
Titled ‘Jackals and Fireflies,’ the film is based on a poem by Eva H.D. who plays the role of the poet, narrator, and lead actor in this uniquely Kaufmanesque love letter to New York City. The Nightography feature of Galaxy S22 Ultra helped photographer to capture New York’s famous night scenes.
And interestingly, Kaufman’s ‘Jackals and Fireflies’ is set to be unveiled at the Galaxy Experience Space in San Francisco during the Galaxy Unpacked on February 1, 2023. Later on, Kaufman will also present the film in New York City.
According to Kaufman, shooting with Galaxy to be an “effective approach” for bringing the film to life, and is very happy with the final result, adding that “…the finished product is beautiful.”
