Samsung disclosed, 2nd May 2022 update fixes two severe Galaxy S22 Ultra issues

Earlier, Samsung started bringing the 2nd May 2022 update to the Galaxy S22 series devices in South Korea, which includes the latest Android security patches. Going ahead, Samsung just confirmed that the new May 2022 security update package includes fixes for two severe Galaxy S22 issues that were reported last month.

According to a Samsung community moderator, the Galaxy S22 May 2022 update that bears firmware version ending VE4 includes major fixes for two issues that were recently announced as an easy fix, as well as increases the security patch level.

Samsung disclosed that the Galaxy S22 Ultra users reported having suddenly disconnecting issues with S Pen in certain scenarios. In order to fix this issue, the company has also shared a quick fix with the Galaxy S22 Ultra users which you can check below.

Galaxy S22 Ultra S Pen suddenly disconnects

This may occur if the Near Device/Physical Activity access permission settings of the S Pen Air Command app are reset on Android 12 OS. Please do one of the following to fix it.

Action method

If you see the S Pen disconnected notification in the notification window after removing and reinserting the S Pen. Select the S Pen disconnected notification in the notification window, and then reconnect the S Pen by allowing the Air Command’s Nearby Device item permission to do it.

  • Notification window → Select S Pen disconnected notification → Allow permission

Select Reset S Pen in your phone’s settings, then allow permission and connect again.

  • Settings → Useful Features → S Pen → Air Actions → More (three vertical dots) → Reset S Pen → Allow permission and reconnect

Intermittent video recording

After installing the first May 2022 security update, some Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 series users reported that they are having issues with intermittent video recording while using the camera or third-party app. Samsung later acknowledged that the issue happened due to compatibility issues with recently released firmware.
