Samsung May 2022 security update

In the fourth week of April, Samsung started releasing the newest May 2022 security patch, which includes several bugs and issue fixes for the Galaxy devices. However, the company has also released the contents of this new security patch as well as a revised software update distribution plan (AKA Scope page).

Starting in 2022, the company announced five years of regular security updates for all the Galaxy devices launched in/after 2021. Though, Samsung will offer only two new updates in the last/ year and will discontinue official support. (Read more)

May 2022 Security Patch details

According to Samsung, the May 2022 Android security update brings fixes for 7 Critical, 23 High, and 3 Moderate levels of CVEs for better system stability. Along with this, the company disclosed that it has already fixed 7 vulnerabilities with previous updates, while 6 are not applicable on Galaxy devices.

Samsung’s May 2022 patch details also mention fixes for various privacy and security-related bugs and issues. These vulnerabilities include 7 Critical, 23 High, and 3 Moderate levels of CVEs from Google and Samsung, which are related to the Weather app, Galaxy Themes, Setup Wizard, and others.

How to install?

If you are an Exynos Galaxy S20 FE user, you can check the fresh firmware update by navigating Settings >> Software update >> Download and install. And, to download it, click on the Download button and then install the update to get access to the new optimizations.

When will Samsung Galaxy S20 FE get Android 13 One UI 5.0 update?

We don’t have any Android 13 upgrade rollout plan or roadmap for Samsung devices at this moment, meanwhile, the company might begin One UI 5.0 beta testing in July, starting with the Galaxy S22 series and other flagships.

Last August, Samsung launched its last Note lineup, the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. At the Unpacked event, the company announced that all the Galaxy flagships launched with Android 9 or later will get three years of Android upgrade support!

Debuted with Android 10-based One UI 2.5, the Galaxy Note 20 range entered the Android 11/One UI 3 beta trial last October. In December 2020, Samsung released the stable One UI version 3.0 via a software update, followed by One UI 3.1 in February 2021.
