With the release of Android 12L, Google introduced an improved user interface for big-screen devices such as tablets. Moving ahead, the company has officially announced that the Android 13 OS will bring various Google apps that will be optimized for tablets.

Yesterday, Google showcased 20 new tablet-optimized apps with new designs at I/O 2022 event. Most of the apps that will be optimized for tablets are from Google Mobile Services. At the same time, the company has encouraged the 3rd party app developers to develop tablet versions too.

Aside from the above-mentioned applications, Canva, Facebook, TikTok and Zoom have already started developing tablet versions of their apps, prior to the Android 13 release later this year. It’s worth mentioning that the optimized apps will use a multi-column layout to offer full advantage of big displays.

In order to promote tablet-optimized apps, Google is adding new tools and filters in the Play Store app so users can easily identify tablet versions of apps. All the One UI apps are well optimized for tablets, however, the new additions will surely take the user experience to the next level.
