Common Galaxy Flip 3 Problems

Problem – The rear side of the phone gets hot while gaming

Samsung forum users have experienced the Galaxy Z Flip 3 overheating when using Android Auto or while playing games. It seems this is not an isolated incident. Other users have reported the phone getting hot in the area under the camera when playing graphically intensive games like Call of Duty: Mobile.

And possibly more worryingly, some users have also reported that the phone gets unusually hot while doing basic things like making calls or browsing the web. This could be due to the Snapdragon 888 processor, which gets quite hot as compared to the previous processor, or it could be due to apps.

This may be very silly to hear but very useful to use- you should remove your phone from its case during heavy gaming sessions or while watching videos, especially on a hot day, as this can help keep it cool.

If your phone is overheating when using Android Auto, you can try turning off background apps, and make sure you’re not charging the phone wirelessly while using the app. Samsung also advises you to protect your phone from direct sunlight in the car.

You can try this too to clear your unwanted cache memory:

  • Turn off your phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Side key.
  • When the green Android logo appears, release both buttons.
  • Press the Volume Down key a few times in order to highlight the Wipe cache partition.
  • Press the Side key to select.
  • Press Volume Down to highlight Yes, then push the Side key to select.
  • Once the Wipe Cache Partition is complete, you will see that Reboot System Now is highlighted.
  • Press the Side key to restart your phone.

Problem: Battery drain in Standby Mode

There have been reports about battery drain while the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is in Standby Mode. The reasons for this can vary – for instance, a new phone takes time to learn your habits and optimize battery life, so it’s a good idea to monitor the drain over the first week. If this is still a problem, there are several things you can try.

How to fix: Battery drain in Standby Mode

First, go to Settings > Battery & Device Care > Battery. This will help you find the battery is draining if a specific app is at fault. You can also try disabling Always On Display or check to see what features and processes are running when the screen is off by going to Settings > Advanced Features > Motion & Gestures.

Problem: Screen cracking with folding

Many users reported issues with their Galaxy Z Flip 3 screen cracking, this usually happens with the Fold. While it doesn’t affect functionality, no one wants to use a cracked screen phone, so what can you do?
