Previously, Samsung had targeted the Japanese smartphone market with the ‘Galaxy S22’. As Apple captures almost half of Japan’s smartphone market, the priority is whether the company can overcome Apple’s obstacles and achieve box office success.

Now, South Korean media is reporting that the Samsung Galaxy S22 series is attracting a response from Japanese consumers. Recently, the company announced that it had achieved a 50 percent increase in pre-sales before the official launch of the Galaxy S22 series in Japan.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series was officially launched in Japan on the 21st by Japanese carriers such as KDDI and NTT DoCoMo and pre-sold for two weeks from the 7th to the 20th before its release.

Unlike in Korea, with the exception of the Galaxy S22 Plus model, two models, the Galaxy S22 Ultra and the Galaxy S22, have been released in Japan. In this pre-sale, it was found that the Galaxy S22 Ultra with S Pen is getting a good response. Samsung is expected to grow to become the second-largest market share in Japan.

According to Strategy Analytics, a market research firm, Apple (60%) will dominate the Japanese smartphone market in 2021. Sharp (10%) was in second place and Samsung (9.7%) was in third place. Samsung Electronics is strengthening its marketing in Japan.
