The shortage of semiconductors is well known to us, and continuingly persists at present, many platforms are predicting that earnings will improve in the third and fourth quarters of 2022. Many companies like Samsung and TSMC are upgrading their foundry strength and structure.

The news firm inews24 revealed that TSMC announced on the 15th of April 2022 that it has recorded 2798 trillion won in sales from January to March this year, which is 35.5 % more than last year.

Operating profits were also increased to 223.8 billion, which counts for a total of 48.7 % more than the same period last year. However, nothing can be said before some authenticated research firm reveals its sales and operating figures with exact analysis.

TSMC claims that its selling figures are three times higher than that of Samsung foundry. Samsung has recorded a sale of 77 trillion won and 14.1 trillion won in operating profits for the first quarter.

On the other hand, Samsung continues to be at the higher end in technology but a realistic figure tells us that TSMC is producing more chipsets at its foundry, which has even surprised intel who is competing in the second place.

Looking at the sales proportion it was found that the 7-nm chipset captured 50% of total sales. The company has recorded a 20 percent sales in 5nm chips.

Why the lower ‘nm’ semiconductors are performing well?

This is because of the products which are selling the most such as smartphone, which has performed outstandingly in the Asian region and specific countries like India, even after a global slowdown.

High-performance computing also accounted for the maximum no. of sales because various players like Samsung, Apple, and AMD are trying to strengthen their digital design infrastructure, which requires a large number of computing devices and though substrates.

The pricing is going to be more competitive in the upcoming days, as the global companies are in a tussle with one another to build high-performance semiconductors strengthening 5G mobile communications, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and automotive semiconductors.
