Samsung likely to open One UI 5 Beta (Android 13) in July

Back in February, Google first showcased the new mobile platform – Android 13 through the Developer Preview channel. While the latest OS is currently exclusive to Pixel smartphones, more OEMs are likely to offer its Beta testing to their devices after the Google I/O 2022 event.

It’s worth mentioning that the Korean tech giant doesn’t let Galaxy consumers participate in Google’s Android DP or Beta program so far. Meanwhile, Samsung runs its independent Beta testing program, and this year, it’s almost going to be the One UI 5, based on Android 13 OS.

One UI 5 Beta coming in July

Folks over at SamMobile reported that Samsung is likely to announce the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 Beta program in the next three-four months, most probably by July this year. At the same time, we can assume the Galaxy S22 lineup will be the initial entry in the One UI 5 Beta activity.

If Samsung starts the Android 13 Beta program in July 2022, developers and consumers will have enough time to polish the new One UI version. If we take history as an indication, the public rollout of the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update is expected to begin at the end of 2022 or early 2023.

One UI 4.1.1 coming ahead

Last year, Samsung announced the Android 11-based One UI 3.1.1, a minor upgrade over the One UI 3.1. While the third-gen foldable smartphones come packed with the One UI 3.1.1, it was not widely rolled out to the Galaxy devices like the One UI 3.1.

This year, it’s expected that the company will follow the same and will introduce the One UI 4.1.1 alongside the rumored Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldable smartphones. Shortly after the announcement, the new version will be available for some older Galaxy foldable devices.
