Check out these amazing S Pen features that Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra offers!
The S Pen has made the Galaxy Note lineup one for the pros. After leaving the Note line bid, Samsung brought its stylus to other flagships, including the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy S21 Ultra, but with one exception – no space to keep the stylus.
With the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the Samsung S not only offers the Note 20 Ultra-like design to hold the S Pen but also provides better latency to match the pen and paper-like feel. I have been using the Galaxy S22 Ultra with the S Pen and here’s what the stylus can do.
Galaxy S22 Ultra S Pen Features [One UI 4.1]
Screen-off memos
If you remove the S Pen from its chamber, the power down screen turns into a canvas, where you can quickly write anything and save it in the Samsung Notes app. All of these work without you having to turn on the screen.
Basically, it sounds, it’s not monotonous. You can choose from five colors (red, green, blue, yellow, gray) and five different sizes stroke with the eraser and buttons for scrolling up and down. When you put the S Pen back inside the housing, every work you do on the screen is saved in the Notes app.
Notification Preview
There are times when an email notification arrives, but you should not open it immediately. Also, you may want to know what that email is about. Here comes the S Pen!
You can use the Samsung Stylus to preview notifications by hovering over the cutoff text. While it works on Gmail and Instagram DM, it is not supported by all apps and is one of the limited features in this list that will expand to more apps over time.
Air Actions
Detects the movement of the S Pen to use Air Action to accomplish various tasks by single or double-clicking your Galaxy S22 Ultra stylus button. This feature allows you to set defaults for navigation. You can also select specific actions for different apps.
For example, if you have an S Pen in your hand and you place your smartphone on the table to get a self-portrait, you can click on the button and it will capture the image.
Screen Write
This is a simple feature that Samsung offers for quick screenwriting. It allows you to take a screenshot, quote, save and share directly from that screen. However, if you want to write by swiping left or right on the edge of the screen, you can turn off the gestures while using the S pen.
To make it work, go to Settings> Display> Navigation Bar> Block Gestures with the S Pen.
Smart Select
Smart Select can help you take screenshots of any shape and size. You can take a screenshot of the rectangle, circle, or free format and save any part of the screen you want.
This feature allows you to select an image and remove its background as well as draw and add text or any other image on it. It allows you to save and share your creativity right from the screen.
Pen Up
If you are an artist who wants to take advantage of the S Pen and see the beautiful presentation of your S22 Ultra as a canvas, PenUp is for you. The app has art outlines that you can colorize, you can find tutorials to help you draw and find challenges for people in the S Pen community.
AR Doodle
As the name suggests, the AR Doodle allows you to doodle in Augmented Reality. It’s a fun S Pen feature that allows you to create videos with doodles by sticking them in place using a selfie shooter.
However, it only works with the front-facing camera that detects objects in your viewfinder as faces and environmental surfaces. Therefore, it allows you to capture people and the environment captured by the selfie shooter.
Translate
You do not need to install Google Translate because S Pen contains Google Translate-based translation. You can choose to translate into any language provided by the app.
To use the feature, all you have to do is select the Translate feature from Air Command, hover over the text with the S pen, wait a second and the translation will appear.
This is a bit limited as you have to choose the language you want to translate without using automatic detection. So if you do not know what you are translating, you can work very hard.
Live Messages
There are times when we need help clicking on a picture with too many samples (e.g., wall color or sofa set) and sending it to friends. Allows me to create live messages videos and GIFs with scribbling on them. You can click on an image or shoot a video and write on it to send to anyone.
Write on the calendar
This feature is useful when you want to quickly compose a note on a specific date in the Samsung Calendar without taking the time to go into the app and create a reminder. This is basically the scribble layer on top of the calendar.
There are many other Galaxy S22 Ultra S Pen Features that you might want to check out, but they are not very useful. One of them is Bixby Vision, which allows you to use Samsung’s virtual assistant to detect things on your phone screen. And then there’s a look, which can be used to look at the app while using a different app.
