One of the various unique features Samsung brings to its Galaxy users is the Edge Panel. Introduced years ago, the Samsung Edge panel has seen multiple modifications over time. But the basic concept of giving users access to certain features hasn’t changed.

Samsung One UI 4.1 Edge Panel brings more convenience to users through shortcuts for apps, app pairs for Split Screen view, tools, widgets, and many more. Additionally, it has a People Panel that lets you access your favorite contacts with just a swipe.

Samsung People Edge Panel places 10 of your contacts. The people that you contact the most will be suggested for the edge panel, but you can add whoever you want. Once your contacts are added to the panel, you can send them a text or call them from the panel itself.

How to enable Edge Panels?

  • Go to Settings of your smartphone
  • Select Display 
  • Swipe down, Turn on Edge Panels by swiping the switch from left to right.
  • Swipe leftward to open Edge Panels
  • Swipe left or right to select Edge panels
  • Tap on the Settings icon to edit or view more Edge Panels.

How to use People Edge Panel?

  • Swipe leftward to open Edge Panels.
  • Swipe left or right across your edge panels until you are on People.
    • You will need to add the people panel to the Edge screen before it can be used. If you can’t find the apps panel, go through the Get started with the edge panel steps to add it.
  • Tap the + icon or Edit.
  • Tap Allow to give the edge panel permission to access your phone and message apps.
    • This is required to use all the features of the people edge panel.
  • Tap Select contacts.
  • Tap each of the contacts you want to add to the edge panel.
    • You can add a maximum of 10 contacts.
  • Once you’ve selected all the contacts you want to add, tap Done.
  • If you would like to change the order of the contacts in the edge panel, drag them into your preferred position.
  • Once you’re happy with the edge panel, tap the home button.
  • Open the edge panel and go to the people panel.
  • Tap on the person you wish to contact.
  • Two icons will appear, one for phone calls and one for messages.
  • Tap the icon that matches how you want to communicate with your contact.

The Intelligent Optimization feature allows users to adjust how their photos are processed. Whether capturing everyday moments or professional shots, the Intelligent Optimization feature in One UI 6.1 ensures that your photos meet your standards with minimal effort.

How to activate it?

You can easily enable the Intelligent Optimization feature by following the steps below.

  • Open the Camera app, then Settings.
  • Tap on Intelligent Optimization.
  • Choose the desired optimization level
    • Maximum
    • Medium: Speed up capture time by doing less optimization
    • Minimum: Take pictures as fast as possible by not optimizing pictures after they are taken.
  • Optionally, enable or disable the Scene Optimizer.

Samsung One UI 6.1 Intelligent Optimization

This feature allows for customization of photo attributes such as sharpness, contrast, and brightness. For example, selecting the minimum level results in more natural-looking images, while the maximum level increases detail and sharpness, which is ideal for zoomed-in shots. Notably, the quality optimization setting of these levels only affects Photo Mode.

If you enable Scene Optimizer, it automatically optimizes the color and contrast of pictures to make dark scenes look brighter, food looks tastier and landscapes look more vivid.

Arrange Widgets on Samsung One UI 6.1 Lock Screen

To customize the lock screen, users just need to follow a few steps:

  • Simply touch and hold to your phone’s lock screen.
  • Select ‘Widgets’ to view the available options and swipe up to see available widgets such as battery, clock and reminders.

Add

  • Now, tap on Widgets, then select the desired widget option. You can repeat this process to continue adding widgets.
  • To rearrange widgets, touch and hold the selected widget, then drag it to a new place next to the other widgets.

Remove

  • If a user decides to remove a widget, they can do so by tapping the red minus icon. This will delete it from your lock screen.
