Samsung to expand its foundry capacity in legacy nodes starting this year
Samsung Electronics is going to expand its foundry capacity in legacy nodes starting from the year 2022. Samsung is going to increase its productivity to the fullest to increase the profit margins of the company by increasing CMOS image sensors manufacturing.
According to BuisnessKorea Samsung aims at starting the mature production capacity of the advanced sub-3-nm fabrication process in the first half of the year 2022.
Referring to the previous business report 2021 that it is considering expanding its maturity node capacity, looking at the midterm and long-term demand. As they are expected to continue and stay strong this year.

Samsung added that it is taking steps to sharpen its product competitiveness and is closely working on building new fabrications, by doing a timely investment in the foundry market to chase its competitors.
Talking about Samsungs facility investment which has reached 48.22 trillion won and had increased the percentage production to 25.3 percent just a year ago.
The Company is enthusiastically working on the Fin field-effect transistors, a 17-nm fabrication, and trying for the production of new image sensors and mobile display driving integrated chips that are presently existing on a 28-nm flat substrate.
Looking at the farsightedness of Samsung Electronics they are presently focused on developing the advanced process technology leaving behind those traditional practices which were used earlier in chip manufacturing.
As we know Samsung accounts for about 40% share of the global market in 10-nm chip manufacturing, and still, Samsung is trying to narrow its gap with a chip-making company such as TSMC.
However, TSMC is considered to be the most advanced in microfabrication, but till 2026 Samsung is securely planning to grab 300 foundry customers and triple its production while keeping 2017 as its base year. Already in the process to start the volume production of 2-nm, third-gen Gate-all-around (GAA) based semiconductor chip.

Samsung announced its AI influencer SAM will participate in the BGS (Brazil Game Show) 2024. BGS is the largest videogame event in Latin America. The event this set to take place from October 9th to 13th in São Paulo, Brazil.
SAM will be available for visitors letting them interact with it through various activities and actions. Adding to this, the AI influencer will be present in various modalities at the Samsung booth during the fair.
Watch Out
At the Watch Out game, SAM will compete alongside gamers. Developed with machine learning technology, Samsung’s Watch Out uses advanced artificial intelligence to work with intelligent agents trained to simulate SAM’s actions in real-time.
During the game, competitors must dodge obstacles and collect as many Galaxy Rings as possible to win. Later, SAM reacts to the player’s actions, offering a direct interaction experience between gamers and their 3D avatar.
SAM x BGS
BGS visitors can enjoy Watch Out on the main stage at the Samsung Booth. Games will be played during the intervals of the stage attractions, allowing the audience to compete in quick matches of up to three minutes.
Depending on their performance in the game, participants will be able to take home exclusive SAM items, such as sweatshirts, mousepads, and pins. It’s pretty interactive activity that the Korean tech giant has prepared for its consumers in Latin America.
