google gboard new feature

Google’s Android 12 OS comes with many new features in town, while the Material You is the latest content brings you the best features. Samsung has already adopted the Material You Dynamic theme for Galaxy devices, and now Google testing some of the different Gboard Material You design for a while.

According to Android Police, this feature is not yet seen in the final look of the keyboard, the features previously included in the Pixel phones are now coming to other Android 12 phones that support the theme engine, such as the recent Samsung Galaxy S22.

This feature adds color to different elements of the Gboard on the smartphone. The backspace, shift, and symbol switcher buttons, along with the comma and period keys, take on color depending on the theme you choose. Enter and the toolbar arrows at the top will get the same appearance, but with darker colors.

As for the content you want to change, some round elements also appear with the symbol switcher and enter a circular shape – if you use your keyboard with edges. Another feature that comes with this beta is the new streamlined look for Gboard’s floating mode.

It adjusts the tabs to move around the keyboard by removing the circular bunch at the bottom of the UI and replacing the full-size icons with a horizontal bar, indicating that it is still moving. The floating keyboard also gets rounded edges that match the circular keys.

Samsung One UI 7 Home Up app features

Samsung is optimizing One UI 7 Home Up for Galaxy Z Fold, Z Flip, and Tab devices. The development team is working to rebuild and optimize the key features of the new Home Up plugin for phone-type devices.

One UI 7 Beta Program is available for the Galaxy Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, and Tab S10 series. The testing activity is also live for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23 series flagships, while the Stable version is available on the Galaxy S25 series.

Galaxy Z Fold, Flip, and Tab device users still await the Home Up plugin’s One UI 7 features such as DIY Home and gesture customization. The progress has reached 30% mark and the official release is expected within a few weeks.

Home Up plans for Z Fold and Flip

For foldable devices like the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip, the Home Up team is preparing a feature called “Cover Screen Mirroring” as part of the Home Up update.

As mentioned in the Good Lock app’s notice terrace article, this feature has sparked a lot of conversation within the development team about how to integrate DIY home customization into the mirrored display effectively.

It’s about ensuring the experience feels seamless and intuitive for users. Right now, the team is in the final stages of nailing down the development details, working through the technical bits to make sure everything lines up properly.

Home Up plans for Tab

When it comes to tablet devices, such as the Galaxy Tab S, the challenge is a bit different. The team needs to ensure DIY home functionality works smoothly in both landscape and portrait orientations, which is a bit difficult.

This requires some extra implementation effort on the development end to cover both modes without hiccups. Developers are putting in the time to get it right, and alongside this, the team is also addressing user-reported issues.
