How to resolve these common Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 problems

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the 3rd generation best Samsung (or anyone else) has ever produced. It improves the durability of the Z Fold 2, which provides water resistance with IPX8, Gorilla Glass Victus, and “sweeper” bristles inside the hinge to retain dust and extend the duration of the phone.
It is also an excellent all-around tool, boasting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and a three-lens rear camera system. On top of this, it goes fold out, making it great for you to do multitasking work and make a product, watch TV and media, and entertain your friends.
Regarding, a state-of-the-art condition like the Z Fold 3, it may not be completely free of problems with lubricants and technical equipment. Fortunately, we have compiled a list of common Samsung Samsung Z Fold 3 problems and how to fix them.
This gives you details on everything from battery discharge issues to issues with Samsung Pay, helping you make the most of your new phone and not letting small snags ruin your enjoyment.
As with our troubleshooting pieces, this article will be updated as we encounter new common issues, so please come back again if the issue you are facing isn’t covered yet.
Camera app not displaying Dual Screen button for selfies
A number of users on Samsung’s Community forum have noted that, when trying to take a selfie in the Camera app, they don’t see the Dual Screen button.
Solution
- Fortunately, there’s a very quick fix for this. As other Samsung Community users have noted, opening the Camera app from the cover screen (rather than the main screen) will ensure that the Dual Screen button appears where it should.
Screen protector problems
Some users of the Z Fold 3 have encountered a variety of issues with the phone’s pre-installed screen protectors. These problems aren’t always exactly the same, with some reporting bubbles and others reporting inconsistencies in the protector’s adherence to the screen.
Since such issues can be frustrating, you are strongly advised not to remove the pre-installed screen protector, especially when talking about a large folding screen. Instead, you should contact Samsung as soon as possible to arrange a repair or replacement.
On the other hand, at least one user asked if it was safe to remove the outer film that came wrapped in wire outside the box.
Unable to acquire GPS location in apps
Even though the Z Fold 3 has only just been released, some users have already complained that apps they use are unable to receive their GPS location data from the phone.
Possible solutions
This is an issue that has affected other Samsung devices in recent years, so you may simply have to wait for a software update for a fix. You can check if one is available by doing the following:
- Open the Settings app on your device.
- Scroll down to Software Update.
- Select Download and Install.
- If a new update is available, your device will obtain it.
This is one of the more complicated and difficult problems encountered so far with the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Quite a large number of United States-based users have reported that they can’t activate their phones on Sprint. This seems to be an issue arising from T-Mobile’s merger with Sprint and from how Samsung has optimized the phone (or not) for using a T-Mobile or Sprint SIM card.
As of writing, the only fix appears to be contacting T-Mobile and/or Sprint and trying a different SIM card (i.e., a T-Mobile rather than Sprint SIM). That said, some users have reported that the issue was resolved after several days, with a few noting that they were eventually able to activate their phones via either the T-Mobile or Sprint websites.
A couple of users have reported that the Convert Handwriting to Text feature on their Z Fold 3 phones doesn’t work properly. Normally, this lets users of the Samsung Notes app handwrite a phrase or sentence and then convert it into normal text. Unfortunately, the affected users note that the process of conversion malfunctions, with random words appearing where they shouldn’t.
Possible fixes
- As of writing, there isn’t a definitive solution for this. You may simply have to wait for a software update from Samsung and then install it, which you can do by going to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
- Given the Samsung Notes app is responsible for converting handwriting, you may also want to try updating it. This can be done by going to the Google Play Store, searching for Samsung Notes, and then tapping Update.

Here’s how to use self diagnosis function on Samsung Galaxy Watch 5, Watch 4

Samsung provides a self-diagnosis function for the Galaxy Watch to check on the health of your watch. Earlier this year, the company released a major update for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 that added self-diagnosis and camera controller functions.
To check for problems when using your Samsung Galaxy device, you can use the self-diagnosis function to test your device itself. Self-diagnosis allows you to test your device directly and fix simple problems yourself.
It is worth mentioning that the Self-diagnosis function is only available for Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch Classic, Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
Let’s see how to use the Self-diagnosis function on your eligible Galaxy Watch.
Before your start Self Diagnosis
Before starting the self-diagnosis, it is mandatory to update the following three things to the latest version.
- Samsung Members App
- Samsung Wearable App
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 4/5 software
If these three things are updated or have just been updated, then restart the mobile once.
How to use Samsung Galaxy Watch Self-diagnosis function?
- Open the Samsung Members app on your Galaxy smartphone.
- Press on the Support menu located at the bottom right corner.
- Select the device to be diagnosed in Connected Device Diagnosis.
- Now, you can see the self-diagnosis test screen.
- You can test them individually by selecting the icon for the features you think are problematic and want to diagnose.
After the self-diagnosis, a check icon will appear on the feature icon if it doesn’t have a problem, and an exclamation mark will appear for any feature that has a problem or hasn’t been tested.

Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Tip: How to get a good night’s sleep

We spend about a third of our lives sleeping – during this time body and mind can come to rest. With the realization that a good night’s sleep is an important basis for our health, Samsung Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro support users in improving their sleep quality.
Measuring and analyzing sleep and starting everyday life more relaxed is a new trend. Around half of Galaxy Watch users track their sleep at least once a week, and 40% even more than three times a week. A better understanding of your sleep habits can make it easier to improve them and in turn, contribute to quality sleep.
Here’s how to get a good night’s sleep:
- Understand sleep patterns and adjust habits
Every person has their own sleeping rhythm and their own sleeping habits. The Samsung BioActive Sensor in the Galaxy Watch5 series can help to understand and, where possible, improve personal sleep needs.
Samsung’s technology can measure users’ sleep patterns whether they snore when the deep sleep phase begins, or how high the oxygen content is in the blood. With the Samsung Health app, these values can be easily viewed the following morning.
- Gathering this data can be the first step in establishing an efficient nighttime routine.
Samsung’s sleep analysis can help with this process by recording sleep behavior over seven days and then assigning it to one of eight animal symbols such as Alligator and Lion. Users also get helpful tips and instructions on exercise, nutrition, and mindfulness.
- For the ideal bedroom
The importance of a good sleeping environment should not be underestimated either. Details such as screen lighting or room temperature can have a major impact on sleep.
That’s why the sleep mode, which can be synced with the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy smartphones, silences distracting notifications before you fall asleep and turns the screen display into shades of gray.
In addition, the “Always On Display” function is deactivated. Sleep mode also prevents the Galaxy Watch from being accidentally activated when users touch the display or move their wrists.
Thanks to SmartThings, even more functions and features can be used for restful sleep. For example, compatible blinds, light switches, and air conditioning systems can be automatically controlled to fall asleep via the Galaxy Watch.
Samsung is constantly working to promote ideas and solutions for restful sleep and healthy sleeping habits. Through ongoing partnerships with industry leaders, including the National Sleep Foundation, Samsung provides practical insights to support healthy living habits.
