Samsung awarded for consistent sustainability leadership by US EPA
Recently, Samsung America received two awards from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in recognition of its continued environmental leadership and innovation. These honors include an 8th consecutive Gold Tier Award for Samsung’s leadership in responsible recycling of e-waste and a new Sustainable Excellence Award.
Samsung has won the EPA SMM Gold Tire Award for the eighth year in a row, recognizing our excellence in e-waste collection across the United States. The company collects and recycles an average of 100 million pounds of e-waste a year in the US. And Samsung has an aggressive goal of adding 500,000 tons of recycled plastic to our products worldwide by 2030.
In addition to the legacy of our SMM innovations over the years, the EPA Sustainable Excellence Award recognizes Samsung’s SolarCell Remote, which was launched in early 2021 and is designed to help reduce battery waste and close the loop on plastic waste.
The innovation currently available with Samsung 4K and 8K QLED (Neo, Q80A, Q70A, Q60A) and MicroLED TVs – eliminates the disposal of 99 million AA batteries and is expected to eliminate 5,840 tons of GHG over a seven-year period.
What’s more, in January 2022, Samsung unveiled the breakthrough in the second generation of its solar cell remote, which can now power devices such as Wi-Fi routers from radio frequencies. The remote is also included in more Samsung products such as new Samsung TVs and home appliances, all aimed at disposing of more than 200 million AA batteries from landfills.

Samsung Galaxy A54 5G smartphone has started receiving the latest October 2024 security update, which installs the fresh Android patch to boost security and stability. The update arrives with a One UI build version A546BXXSACXI3.
October 2024 security update is rolling out with some important fixes from Google and Samsung. Google has patched 2 critical and 28 high-level issues, 1 was already resolved and 2 don’t apply to Galaxy devices.
On Samsung’s end, there are 12 fixes for vulnerabilities in system services and Knox. In addition, Samsung Semiconductor also added a fix to improve performance. Overall, the update enhances the security of the device for better protection.
Users of Samsung Galaxy A54 smartphones are getting an October 2024 security update in Europe and the company will soon make it available in other countries. The installation package size of this update is around 277MB.

Talking about One UI 7, the Samsung Galaxy A54 smartphone is eligible. Back in August 2024, this smartphone was spotted running Android 15-based One UI 7 on Geekbench. It scored 978 in single-core and 3044 in multi-core scores. Notably, the next One UI 7 update will be debuted with the Galaxy S25 series while the beta program will open for developers at the end of this year.

At the earnings forecast, Samsung issued a public apology for disappointing performance. Now, a report suggests that Samsung could shake up the working staff of its Chip Division to foster competitiveness and growth.
Per KoreaTimes, Samsung may soon reshuffle its Chip Division operations. The company’s DS Division is on the radar of top executives, which oversees chip business. Samsung’s position is in danger as a chipmaker due to Foundry concerns.
Samsung is reportedly planning a regular personnel reshuffle in November this year. This time, major changes could be seen in the senior executive ranks. A layoff is also in the pipeline, aimed at cutting jobs in the marketing division.
Lee Jae-yong will mark his second anniversary as the head of Samsung on October 27. Market attention is now on how he will respond to the existing concerns and set a new course for the tech giant to ensure sustainable growth.
Samsung’s Lee could instruct the reduction of executives within the DS Division. In addition, several president-level technology officials overseeing the memory and foundry businesses could also be replaced with new talents to ensure growth.
Before the reshuffle, the Korean tech giant is thoroughly reviewing key business divisions to streamline underperforming areas, enhance competitiveness in memory chips, and improve communication between research and manufacturing teams.
DS Division is in crisis due to lower-than-expected profits despite the booming AI market. The company’s memory chip research and AI processor efforts are not paying off, requiring the need for an interception and transition.
Samsung has released a new update for the Gallery app, now available on the Galaxy Store with version 15.5.01.5. The update brings improvements to the app’s performance along with some fixes for issues users experienced in the previous version.
After updating to One UI 6.1.1, many Samsung users were facing issues with the Gallery album feature. When users tried to open specific photos in the Gallery app, the album would disappear and their photos would not be visible. Instead of the photos appearing, the album itself disappeared
Samsung acknowledged the issue and promised to fix it in a future update. Now, with the release of this new Gallery app update, it is expected that the album visibility problem will be resolved.
While the update’s changelog does not provide specific details about which bugs have been fixed, it is widely expected that the disappearing album bug will be addressed.
