For the last eight years, Google Chrome is working with the exact same logo, and now, in 2022, the app has updated and modernized its logo after all. The new browser logo comes in variations for iPhones, Macs, Windows, and Chromebooks.

It has the same general system as the round, four-color base design that Google leveled off in its 2011 enhancements. However, subtle changes are now visible on the screen. The new logo has a lighter color, a large blue circle in the middle, and disabled shadows.

The icon’s main circle is implemented in a similar way to Google’s corporate colors: green, red, yellow, the only difference is that the light blue in the middle is enlarged to represent technological innovation.

Another big goal of Google with this icon is to support “OS-specific customization”. In this context, the Designer Elvin on Twitter stated that

You might ask, “why bother with sth. so subtle?” We tailor Chrome’s experience to each OS, with features like Native Window Occlusion on Windows, day-one M1 support on macOS, Widgets on iOS/Android, and Material You on Android. We want our brand to convey the same level of care.”

They want to tailor the Chrome experience to any operating system with features like built-in windows closing on Windows, Day-One M1 support on macOS, gadgets on iOS / Android, and Material U on Android.
