Russian court rejects imposing interim measures against Samsung in patent lawsuit

Samsung is developing its own technologies in order to become a leading technology supplier in the electronics industry. In a recent development, a Russian court has denied interim measures against Samsung Electronics in a patent.

According to the information, On January 27, a Russian court document emerged, mentioning dismissed provisional measure against Samsung Electronics amid a pending intellectual property lawsuit with Switzerland’s SQWIN SA.

SQWIN SA previously requested that Samsung Electronics be prohibited from importing and selling certain models, which are approximately 61 smartphones with intellectual property rights, from Russia based on the Samsung Pay system.

However, when Samsung appealed, the ban did not apply. SQWIN SA did not indicate that Samsung had any bad intentions. SQWIN SA state that Samsung Pay has limited a patent for an electronic payment system registered in Russia.

In the Samsung Russian court patent lawsuit, Samsung’s defense counsel stated that since SQWIN SA was a registered invention, it had not submitted to the court any evidence that it intended to profit from the patentable invention.
