For the first time, the IC chip combines three key functions that can help biometric card makers reduce the number of chips needed in their designs. These functions include a fingerprint sensor, Secure Element (SE), as well as Secure Processor.
According to the company, these biometric payment cards will allow faster and safer interactions when making purchases with built-in new security IC. It also removes the need to enter the PIN on the keypad for users’ convenience and safety.
The Samsung Smart Fingerprint Security IC further controls fraud transactions as it verifies the identity of the cardholder using a unique and securely stored fingerprint. It also has anti-spoofing technology that prevents unauthorized users from bypassing the security system by artificial fingerprints.
Moreover, to securely and accurately verify user identity, the new IC comes with a proprietary fingerprint authentication algorithm and a secure processor that extracts and analyzes the unique features of the fingerprint placed on the sensor.
The solution’s encrypted fingerprint data is stored in an SE that has received globally recognized certifications such as EMVCo and CC EAL 6+.

One UI 7 Beta: Is it really coming?
Samsung will hold this year’s Developer Conference on October 3rd. The company is expected to showcase its software advancements including Galaxy AI, Tizen OS, Knox, and One UI. It’s mid-September and there’s no sign of One UI 7 Beta.
Is it really coming?
Amid talks of a delay in the Beta Program, it’s assumed that Samsung may kick off the public rollout without beta. The Korean tech giant is nearing the Developer Conference 2024 and the Beta isn’t announced for the S24 series.
In mid-July, the Beta was rumored to kick off on July 31 in South Korea. The rumor was untrue, but we got some alleged screenshots from the firmware. A series of app icon images have floated online, but no one’s talking about that now.
CheckFirm hasn’t yet detected any Beta test build on Samsung’s firmware. The company is swiftly progressing on the One UI 7 development. However, it’s difficult to guess the exact status of the Beta release for the Galaxy S24 series.
One UI 7 will be the first major upgrade for the Galaxy S24 series. The new firmware with “B” OS marking is being tested and updated regularly. Meanwhile, everyone’s waiting for the “Z” marked build to pop up right before the Beta announcement.
Is Android 15 delaying the Beta?
Google is expected to start rolling out the Stable Android 15 next month. The company launched the Pixel 9 series last month, which came pre-loaded with last year’s OS. It points out a strategic change, which has not been announced by Google.
It appears that Google still has some work left to be done on Android 15. Samsung’s software is based on Android, hence, the development and testing would have been impacted. Anyways, being a Samsung fan, I wish for a fruitful outcome.
What do you think, will Samsung run the One UI Beta Program this year?
