Samsung Electronics the world leader in advanced memory technology and Red Hat, Inc, the worlds leading provider of open source solutions, have announced a broad collaboration on software technology for next-gen memory solutions, today on May 25, 2022.

Both will focus on the development and validation of open-source software for the existing emerging memory and storage products that include NVMe SSDs; CXL memory; computational memory/storage (HBM-PIM, Smart SSDs) including building an expansive ecosystem for closely integrated memory hardware, and software.
We all know that the exponential growth is data-driven by Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality and the metaverse is bringing mind-boggling changes to the memory design. Therefore now it requires more sophisticated software technology.
So, their would-be requirement for better hardware to keep the software working is why Samsung and Red Hat came together to make concentrated efforts to define and embrace the memory hardware solution along with the software. The upcoming era will be truly data-centric, and the software and hardware architecture have become increasingly essential for the purpose. I think this has driven Red Hat to participate with Samsung Electronics.
