Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 CoverScreen OS brings a lot of new features for its cover screen!

Launched back in August last year, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a third-generation foldable smartphone. It comes with multiple improvements over its predecessors, such as a larger cover screen. Although the device comes with a much bigger cover screen than the previous model, it is still not as big as users wanted to have.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3’s cover display hasn’t received much attention from its users as it doesn’t offer much in terms of functionality. At present, the phone’s back screen supports only six widgets, including Music, Weather, Today’s schedule, Next alarm, Voice Recorder, and Timer, which aren’t very important.

However, it seems to be changed now. An XDA’s Android app developer named Jagan2 has appeared with CoverScreen OS. It’s an application that mimics a much more functional secondary OS for the cover screen of your Galaxy Z Flip 3.

The said CoverScreen OS allows you to reply to messages via voice typing, access the app drawer, open apps (some games as well), use quick setting enable/disable toggles, perform notification actions, support third-party widgets, and even features an active media player card. Interestingly, it also makes Samsung Pay mobile payments directly from the cover display.

If you too want to use this amazing CoverScreen OS on your Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, you can follow these steps to install it on your Galaxy Z Flip 3.

How to setup CoverScreen OS on Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3:

  • Download CoverScreen OS from the Google Play Store.
  • Set up Bixby (required for fingerprint unlock to launch apps on the cover screen)
  • Set side key to launch Bixby on long press.
    • Navigate to Settings > Advanced features > Side key and toggle ‘Wake Bixby’ under ‘Press and hold’.
  • Launch CoverScreen OS and log in with your Google account.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to grant accessibility permissions.
  • Tap on the toggle in the top right corner of the app to allow notification access and enable CoverScreen OS.
  • Fold your Galaxy Z Fold 3 and you should see a welcome notification from CoverScreen OS.

Before you start using CoverScreen OS, make sure to enable Bixby on your device. It doesn’t seem to work if you install and set up the app first and then enable Bixby.
