Samsung One UI 4.0 is the latest version of the Galaxy user interface, again including several optimizations and new functions. One UI 4.0 can help you create your personalized Galaxy smartphone experience and customize your mobile phone or tablet to suit your needs and preferences.

By using different design options, for instance, you can change the look and functionality of the display and configure icons, notifications‌ , or background images. One UI 4.0 also includes visually new widgets and many emojis.

One UI 4.0 also provides new functions to protect your data and your privacy. Direct instructions on camera and microphone usage through the app allow you to easily deactivate permissions.

With the update to Android 12, compatible Galaxy smartphones and tablets will also receive the latest version One UI 4.0. As a rule, your Galaxy mobile device will notify you with a message as soon as the update is available.

Extended stories

Highlight videos are created automatically. To view a story, tap Preview at the top. In the new map view, you can now find out where the pictures in the stories were taken.

Easier albums

Albums can be sorted according to how many pictures and videos they have so that the most used albums are always at the top of the list. When you’re viewing an album, the cover art is displayed at the top of the screen to help you identify what’s in the album.


Edit Pictures

After saving edited photos, the original versions can be restored at any time so that the original recordings are not lost.

More control over the image information

The date, time, and location of the images may be changed or removed to correct this information or to keep it private. Processing information in the form of multiple selections is also possible.

Samsung Camera

The Scenario Optimizer button only appears in Photo mode when there is little ambient light or when you are scanning a document. The portrait and night mode settings are now hidden and more intuitive.

Lens and zoom

  • The lens symbols show the magnification level.

Videos that never miss a moment

  • The recording now starts immediately when you tap the Record button, and not just when you release it. In photo mode, you can tap and hold the shutter icon to start recording the video and then drag your finger to the lock icon to continue recording while tapping the shutter icon.

Longer single-take recordings

  • Single take recordings can now take 5 seconds longer.

Professional photography

  • The settings for the professional photo and professional video modes have been revised. This includes e.g. For example, a streamlined layout and the new alignment indicators that have been added to the grid.

Advanced scanning capabilities

  • You can now scan documents and then directly tap the magnifying glass icon to instantly enlarge and edit them.
  • After scanning QR codes, more functions are available, for example calling someone or writing an e-mail, instead of just adding their contact details to the address book.

Pet portraits

  • The portrait mode now works for cats and dogs with both the selfie and the skin camera. Certain portrait effects can only be applied after you’ve taken a photo.

Samsung Messages

  • Unsaved contacts are now automatically categorized via the contact picture.
  • The symbols for the addition of media/files can now be sorted and hidden.

  • You will see multiple search suggestions when you enter text in the address bar. Search results are displayed in a new design.

Search from the home screen

Icon size, quick access to GIFs, emojis, and stickers

  • The size of the letters and numbers has been optimized. GIFs, emojis, and stickers can now be accessed from the keyboard with a single button.

Animated emoji pairs

  • It is now possible to combine two emojis and add animation.

New stickers

  • There are many new animated stickers available for download.

Writing assistant

  • The new writing assistant, operated by Grammarly, helps you with grammar and spelling rules (English only).

If you want to check for the latest update manually, head to your device Settings tap on Software updates and finally hit the Download and install button.

What’s new:

Apart from the all-new Android 12 operating system, the One UI 4.0 also brings new features as well as enhanced customization and privacy abilities that let users control many aspects to allow users to create their own optimized mobile experience.

Quick Panel: With the One UI 4.0, consumers can manage brightness more comfortably with the larger brightness bar in the quick panel. In addition, the name of the “Media” button has been changed to “Media Output”.

Widgets: One UI 4.0 introduces redesigned Home screen widgets for the Galaxy devices. It gives you more information at a glance and lets you personalize and decorate your home screen in your way, thanks to the new structure of the widget list.

UPDATE 5: Galaxy S10 Android 12 – US (Xfinity Mobile)

Samsung has begun releasing the stable Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update to the carrier-locked Galaxy S10 series phones in the US. In addition to Verizon, the One UI 4.0 update is now available on Xfinity Mobile consumers of Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ users, while the firmware versions are:

UPDATE 4: Galaxy S10 (Lite too) Android 12 – India

The Android 12-based One UI 4.0 major software update with December 2021 security patch is now expanding to the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10 Lite smartphone users in India. Check version numbers below, followed by download steps.

UPDATE 3: Galaxy S10 Android 12 – Australia

Samsung Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+ devices are now receiving the stable Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update in Australia.




UPDATE 2: S10 Lite too

The Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update is continuously rolling out to more Galaxy devices in which the Galaxy S10 Lite is the latest entry as of today. Currently, the update is released in Spain, while the firmware version is G770FXS6FULA.



UPDATE 1: S10 5G too

Update: Samsung has now released the stable Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update to the 5G cousin of the Galaxy S10 series as well. The update is initially rolling out in Switzerland, bearing firmware version – G977BXXUBGULB. However, the security patch level is December 2021.





Just recently, Samsung has begun the stable One UI 4.0 update rollout for the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 10 series. And now, the major Android 12 update is making its way to the famous Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10e, and Galaxy S10+ devices.

Initially, the Korean tech giant is releasing the official Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update to the Galaxy S10 series in Germany. However, we can expect a broader rollout in the coming days or weeks. In addition, the update includes the most up-to-date December 2021 security patch.

Samsung Galaxy A71 Android 12 One UI 4.0 update spotted on Checkfirm

Samsung Galaxy A71 smartphone users are eagerly waiting the get a taste of the novelties of Android 12 and One UI 4.0. While the device is scheduled to get the major software update in near future, Checkfirm spotted the build that hints at its early arrival.

According to the information, One UI test build detection app – Checkfirm spotted a new One UI update build that had been tested on the Galaxy A71. The origin of the new software is Russia as SER is the CSC code of Samsung Russia.

As you can see in the screenshots above, a new One UI update firmware has been tested on the Galaxy A71 LTE bearing PDA build number – A715FXXU8CVA5. However, we don’t know the exact release timeline of Galaxy A71’s Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update, it will happen sometime next month.

One UI 4 Features: Samsung’s Android 12 update brings a number of new features including a modified user interface with renewed icons and Material You theming system. In addition, the One UI 4.0 also improves all of the stock apps, adds more lock screen widgets, quick settings toggles to turn off the camera and mic access and more.
