One UI 4.0: How to extend battery life with Power Saving Mode on your Samsung smartphone?
Samsung has done a great job with the One UI 4.0 update along with a set of new features and optimizations along with major system optimizations. Now, the stable One UI 4.0 update is getting closer to more devices and users may be wondering how to extend battery life with Power Saving Mode to get the full user experience!
Most smartphones these days come with better battery life. However, you may face some situations where you want to extend the battery life of your Samsung Galaxy phone further. This is where the various power-saving modes in One UI come into play.
To help improve the long-term battery health of your Galaxy device, One UI 4.0 has a new battery toggle that limits the maximum charge capacity to just 85%. You can enable it if you want to keep your battery health solid no matter how long you hold your Galaxy phone.
Samsung smartphones come with three different battery modes – normal, mid-power-saving and max power saving. Depending on the situation, you may switch between these modes.
Battery Saver with One UI 4.0
With One UI 4.0, Samsung made some changes to the battery saver. Rather than different modes, they added a toggle option to disable other functions that may not be important during a battery emergency.
To access the battery saver on the phone with One UI 4.0, go to Settings> Device Care> Battery> Power Saving.
Here, you will find the master toggle to enable power-saving mode. This enables a moderate or moderate amount of power savings available to use all your apps and services. You can connect to the Internet and connect to other wireless peripherals as well.
However, your CPU performance will be reduced and all background operations will be disabled to save some extra power. Other factors such as display brightness and refresh rate are also reduced.
If you want to turn on Ultimate Power Saving Mode, you need to turn on the Restrict Apps and Home screen option in this menu. It’s essentially a MAX power saver with a UI 3.0 and below.
Battery Saver with a One UI of 3.0 or below
Using One UI 3.0 or belowMid power-saving mode is when you want to extend your battery life a bit without affecting the core functionality of your phone. This mode still allows you to use all your apps and networks but limits background usage, reduces your screen refresh rate and resolution, limits display brightness and disable display which is always online to extend battery life.
And the Max Power Saving Mode is the maximum recovery tool in those times when you need the most battery life and your phone is nearing the end. This mode essentially disables all unneeded functions on your phone and limits it to a set of 8 apps that you can select.
You can configure apps such as Dialer, Messages, Browser, etc., and they are the only apps you can use when you are in maximum power-saving mode. Things like internet connectivity and Bluetooth are also limited and your wallpaper becomes a black background.
Use this mode if you want to extend your battery life by a large margin and live up to the basic functionality of your phone, such as making and receiving calls.
To use different power-saving modes, go to Settings> Device Management> Battery and select the desired mode.

Samsung Galaxy S24’s One UI 7 Beta returns Monday with potential Beta 2 launch
Samsung’s One UI 7 Beta Program for Galaxy S24 series hit full capacity. If you missed joining the Beta Program, there’s good news: Samsung is expected to reopen the One UI 7 Beta on Monday along with the Beta 2 launch.
Max Jambor revealed that Samsung may open the second phase of One UI 7 Beta registration, and the date aligns with previous rumors of a Beta 2 launch. The rollout of the second Beta should bring another opportunity to join the Beta.
At present, Samsung is running the Beta Program for the Galaxy S24 series. The program is already live in four out of six key markets: Germany, South Korea, the UK, and the US.
Samsung stopped Beta registrations just the next day after the Beta launch in the US. It seems the slots are fewer than last year, keeping the Beta build restricted to a limited audience.
Recently, Samsung Support confirmed that the One UI 7 Beta Program will start on December 16 in India, and the same date is rumored for the remaining European market: Poland.
The Beta participants will receive an incremental update as Beta 2 on their Galaxy S24 device. However, the latest build will directly be provided to the Wave 2 markets: India and Poland.
The second Beta of One UI 7 will bring improved animation and transition effects. Samsung users can expect more natural and fluid system animations in the next Beta updates.
One UI 7 Beta 2 – What to expect?
- Smoother animations, fluid transitions
- Enhanced performance and lesser app incompatibility
- Bug fixes and overall user experience improvements
