One UI 4.0 Tip: How to enable picture-in-picture (PIP) mode on your Samsung phone?

Samsung introduced several new changes to the user interface and functionality with the One UI 4.0 Android 12 update. The new version also offers some notable features and performance improvements. One of the most important changes in the rounded corner for viewing videos in picture-in-picture mode.

The Picture-in-Picture allows you to do multitask on your phone and it is available to some of your favorite apps like YouTube and Maps. After starting, it displays the app in a floating window where you can move around your screen.

How to use Picture in Picture mode in One UI 4.0?

  1. Tab to phone Settings.
  2. Go to App settings.
  3. Find your app (YouTube).
  4. Once you’ve reached the YouTube App Info page, scroll down to Advanced Settings.
  5. If the section does not appear automatically, tap it to open it.
  6. Check the Picture-in-Picture option. If it’s not already, turn it on and you’re good to go.
  7. All you have to do is open the video in the YouTube app, and then swipe up or hit the home button to go to the home screen.
  8. The video will pop up in the corner of your screen.

To be fair to Samsung, the bubble, which has been in the One UI for a long time, is a bit tweaked but nice as it is associated with rounded aesthetics. When watching the video in picture-in-picture mode, the sharp window edge is rounded and smooth for consistent aesthetics.

This is a small change, but it mimics the changes made with the Android 12 developer preview and later beta builds. You can also hide playing content for easy access when you want to focus on another app or UI section.

Although the narrative seems, the corner details have also changed and are more accurate when increasing the mini-player window size.
