Very early Android 13 build revealed several big features coming to smartphones next year

While OEMs are developing their custom skins based on the latest Android 12 OS, Google seems to be already working on the next generation of its mobile platform. Reportedly, XDA-Developers got a very early Android 13 build that revealed some of its features and changes.

According to the report, Google is working on several new features that will debut with the Android 13 update next year. Meanwhile, we can see some of the Android 13 features that are under development including App Languages, Runtime Permission for Notifications, TARE: The Android Resource Economy, and Lock Screen Clock Layout.

App Languages

A recent report (via AndroidPolice) revealed that Google will introduce a useful feature that will let users change the language of a specific app, which will keep the system language unchanged. In the Android 13 build, this new “App Languages” setting is accessible through Settings > System > Languages & input.

Runtime Permission for Notifications

Android 13 is expected to finally destroy interrupting and spam notifications for users with the addition of a new runtime permission “POST_NOTIFICATIONS” for notifications. As result, Google could make notifications functionality an opt-in feature on its next major Android OS.

  • Note: XDA disclosed that the settings interface for Runtime Permission for Notifications feature does not fully work yet.

TARE: The Android Resource Economy

In addition to the two above-mentioned features, Google’s likely to bring a feature namely TARE (The Android Resource Economy). This feature usually focuses on energy-use management on the device, however, it’s working through AlarmManager and JobScheduler policies.

Lock Screen Clock Layouts

The Android 13 OS seems to be adding useful tool lock screen settings to adjust the layout of the clock on the lock screen. With the Android 12, Google adjusted the lockscreen clock in two lines in case of nil unchecked notifications.

Last but not least, we are still months away from the very early Android 13 Developers Preview, meanwhile, Google will launch the stable version of Android 12L created for the big screen and foldable devices. Samsung Galaxy S21 FE One UI 6 update Europe

Samsung rolled out the One UI 6.0 update for the Galaxy S21 FE smartphone, starting with Verizon network carrier in the US and now the company is expanding it to more users. Now, the company is making this update available in some European countries including Germany.

The Galaxy S21 FE smartphone is getting One UI 6.0 update in Germany with One UI build version G990B2XXU5FWK3. The update has around 2.4 GB package, you can connect your device to Wi-Fi to install the update.

Based on Android 14, the One UI 6.0 update offers a more refined and user-friendly interface, enhanced privacy and security options, redesigned widgets and notifications, improved performance and battery life, and more.

The update also installs the November 2023 security patch. Users can check for the update manually by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

December 2023 Android Feature Drop

Google has released a huge December 2023 Android feature drop for its Pixel devices. It brings several new features and improvements to enhance the Pixel experience. This update includes Video Boost, Watch Unlock, new camera modes, and more.

Video Boost

Video Boost is a feature that enhances the video quality of the Pixel 8 Pro by using Google’s cloud processing capabilities. After recording a video, Google will upload a special format to its servers and apply HDR+ and other computational photography models to adjust color, lighting, stabilization, and graininess.

The result is a video that is more vivid, detailed, and lifelike. Video Boost also enables Night Sight Video, which lets users record in low-light conditions with rich color and detail.

Watch Unlock

Another feature that is finally available is Watch Unlock, which lets users unlock their Pixel phones with their Pixel Watch. When the watch is being worn and unlocked, the paired nearby phone will not require a password. Users can also lock their phone from their watch if it is unlocked accidentally.

New Camera Modes

The Pixel Camera app is also getting some new modes and tools, such as Night Sight timelapse, Portrait light balance, Photo Unblur for pets, Dual Screen Preview for Pixel Fold, and Clean for scanned documents.

Users can also use their Pixel 6 or newer, or Pixel Fold, as a webcam for their laptop or desktop by connecting them via cable.

New Watch Faces and Auto Call Screen

The Pixel Watch is also getting some siz new faces and complication styles, as well as Do Not Disturb and Bedtime Mode sync. Additionally, users can see a transcript of the conversation on their watch when using an auto Call Screen with a Tensor-powered Pixel phone.

Other features in the update include contextual Call Screen replies, Direct My Call and Hold for Me expansion, Clear Calling and Spatial Audio for Pixel Tablet, and more.
