Samsung merges mobile and consumer electronics divisions with other new leadership

Samsung Electronics today announced its new leadership to help the company grow in the future and strengthen its business competitiveness. Prior to this, the company had three sub-divisions namely Consumer Electronics, Device Solutions and Mobile and IT and each of them has been headed by a different CEO since 2017.

Now, the company revealed that it has merged consumer electronics and mobile, and IT departments. The SET segment includes smartphones, TVs and home appliances and is headed by the same CEO: Jong-hee Han. Prior to that, he led the company’s TV division (Visual Display) and helped maintain the company’s dominance in the global TV market for 15 consecutive years.

In different leadership changes, Qihyun Kyung was selected to lead the Samsung semiconductors business. Prior to that, he was CEO of Samsung Electro-Mechanics and an expert in semiconductor design. He also led the company’s flash production and technology team and was part of the DRAM design team. With the ever-increasing demand for cloud infrastructure, the role of Kyehyun Kyung will be crucial for Samsung in the years to come.

Hark Q Park, formerly President and Head of Corporate Management Office at Device Solutions Business, new President and CFO. Kinnam Kim, vice chairman and head of the device solutions business, is currently chairman of SAIT (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology).

Samsung also announced that KS Choi is the new president and head of SET North America. Prior to that, he was Executive Vice President and Head of Business. Inup Kang is currently President and Head of the North American Office for the Device Solutions Business Division. Prior to that, he was President and Head of the Systems LSI Business.

Samsung announced the launch of Galaxy F05 in India. The company’s new smartphone will be available for purchase in the Indian market, starting September 20, in 4GB RAM and 64GB storage configuration for INR 7999.

The company’s new budget phone will be available in a 4GB+64GB storage variant. It comes in a refreshing Twilight Blue color, and is set to go on sale on September 20 with exciting launch offers on Flipkart and Samsung.com

The Galaxy F05 introduces a massive 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging, an impressive 6.7” inch HD+ display, a 50-megapixel dual camera, an 8MP front camera, a leather pattern finish, a MediaTek Helio G85, and much more.

Samsung Galaxy F05 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 processor paired with 4GB RAM. The RAM can be boosted by an additional 4GB through RAM Plus, while the phone also comes with expandable storage of up to 1TB.

Samsung has pushed the One UI 6.1.1 update based on Android 14 for the Galaxy Tab S9 series in Canada. This update is already live for users in Europe and Korea, expanding soon to more countries.

After installing the latest One UI version, users of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series can enjoy several new and advanced features. This update now lets you transform sketches into stunning artwork and enhances your photos with better styles.

In addition, the Samsung Keyboard can auto-complete your text, and you can get real-time translations for calls and text in images. You can convert voice to text, manage PDFs more easily, and set wallpapers that change with the weather and time.

Aside from this, One UI 6.1.1 improves the system security with the August 2024 patch and updates several Galaxy apps to the latest available version. The package size of this update is around 2.5GB.

One UI 6.1.1 update for the Galaxy Tab S9 series can be identified through PDA versions ending with BXHB in Canada. However, users in the US along with several other countries are still waiting for this update. It is a gradual rollout so it may take some days to reach all models.

If you have received the notification of the update then install it now to get a bug-free experience. Firstly, visit your Galaxy device’s “System Settings,” once done, scroll down and tap the “Software update” tab, followed by the “Download and install” button.

Other Samsung Galaxy device users, including those with the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy S23 FE, are still waiting for the One UI 6.1.1 update. However, it was scheduled to roll out for these devices on September 17 in Canada.
