Mozilla Firefox 95 for Android brings new security feature RLBox against malicious code

Recently, Mozilla introduce a new security feature that will make Firefox the most secure browser for users. This feature is known as RLBox and is available today through the Firefox 95 update, it is a new sandboxing tool developed by the company in partnership with the University of California, San Diego and the University of Texas.

Among all the latest browsers use sandboxing to protect users from malicious code (via-XDA). The problem is, most sophisticated exploits combine two vulnerabilities to avoid those defenses. With RLBox, Firefox compiles a process into WebAssembly and converts it into local code.

According to Mozilla, this approach offers two important benefits. This prevents the code from jumping between different parts of the program and restricts access to specific areas of your system memory.

In addition to this, Mozilla introduced a new homepage on mobile with the release of Firefox 94 last month and starting with Firefox 95, more settings options are available. With this release, Mozilla will use RLBox to separate Firefox’s five components, including the browser’s graphite font rendering engine and the Ogg multimedia module.

However, the company hopes that other developers will use the technology to make their software safer. Meanwhile, RLBox is now available for all desktop and mobile versions of Firefox. You can download Firefox for the desktop platform from the Mozilla website and it will be available on the Play Store for Android devices.
