WhatsApp Pay gets NCPI approval for expansion to 40 million Indian users

WhatsApp Message Yourself

WhatsApp has received regulative approval from the National Payments Corporation of India (NCPI) to double the number of users offering its payment services in India. This comes as a Facebook-owned company requests that there should be no limit on the number of users it can work with.

WhatsApp Pay is built on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform and is part of a growing list of UPI-based payment services, including Google Pay, Flipkart’s PhonePe and Paytm.

Starting using WhatsApp to send and receive money is very easy. It can be used to send and receive money between two bank accounts in a fast and secure manner and with this expansion, the company will now be able to serve its 40 million customers, as reported by Reuters.

WhatsApp Message Reactions

Not everyone has access to WhatsApp Pay yet and when the service was first launched, only 20 million of its 400 million users in India had this feature. That number has expanded from the 10 million user pilot launched earlier last year.

India has imposed a 30% cap on the total volume of UPI transactions processed by third-party app providers, with the aim of preventing large tech companies such as Google and Flipkart from dominating the market.

WhatsApp’s massive 500-million-person user base will allow the app to suppress competition with its already stronghold in the instant messaging market if WhatsApp Pay is made available to all of its users.

Whatsapp locked chats issue

WhatsApp has released an essential update for its beta users, which fixes an issue with locked chats and filters. The new update is available through version 2.24.19.35 on the Google Play Beta Program.

The fresh beta update addresses an issue found in the previous beta version, 2.24.19.16. This beta version brought the Meta AI Assistant feature to help businesses by providing personalized insights and creating content for their catalogs, including images and ads.

However, users of this update encountered a major issue as the locked chats and chat filters stopped working properly. Mainly, users found that locked chats were missing from their interface, and they could not use filters to manage their conversations.

Whatsapp locked chats issue

Several WhatsApp beta testers tried to fix the problem by restarting their devices or force-stopping the app, but these actions did not resolve the issue. This bug makes it difficult to access important conversations and navigate through messages.

Fortunately, WhatsApp has now fixed the issue with locked chats and filters through its latest beta update. After installing this update, users can once again access their locked chats and use chat filters.

If you are also testing the WhatsApp beta version on your Android devices, install the latest update to enjoy a smoother and error-free experience.

WhatsApp bringing new feature to easily transfer community ownership

WhatsApp Ownership transfer feature

WhatsApp is rolling out a new update for Android users, which brings the long-awaited transfer ownership feature to the community. This feature allows community owners to easily transfer their leadership role to another member.

Previously, if a WhatsApp community owner wanted to transfer ownership, they had to create a new community and ask everyone to join it. This was a long process and could lead to losing members and causing confusion.

Now, the new transfer ownership feature of WhatsApp resolves this issue by making it simple to pass on the leadership without any major disruptions and following a too-long process.

WhatsApp Ownership transfer feature

This feature appears in the community settings and makes it simple for current owners to transfer their leadership duties. Once the transfer is complete, the original owner will still be an admin but will lose the top decision-making capabilities.

They can continue to help manage and moderate the community, but won’t be able to make major changes like disabling the community or removing other admins.

The Transfer community ownership feature is currently available to some beta testers who have installed the WhatsApp beta version 2.24.19.34 from the Google Play Store. The company plans to roll it out to more users over the next few weeks.

WhatsApp has released a new update for its Android app with version 2.24.19.32, which brings a new feature for Meta AI voice. Available via the Google Play Beta Program, the fresh update adds a new feature that allows users to customize the Meta AI voice.

Earlier, WhatsApp was testing customizable voices for Meta AI. The latest beta version expands this feature, offering users the choice of several different voices for Meta AI. These include three UK voices and two US voices, each varying in pitch and tone to suit different preferences.

In addition, users will be able to choose from four voices modeled after public figures, although their identities have not yet been disclosed. WhatsApp users can select a voice that matches their preferred accent or tone and is pleasant to hear.

The new customization option for WhatsApp aims to make interactions with the Meta AI chatbot more personalized and engaging. Currently, this feature is only available with version 2.24.19.32 for Android in English, but WhatsApp plans to include voices in other languages in future updates.

As this feature is still in development, it will be enhanced before its official release. WhatsApp is working to ensure that it meets user needs and expectations.
