Samsung DeX is a feature of Samsung’s leading smartphones that allows you to extend your phone to a PC by connecting an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. It has been introduced in the Galaxy S8 series and is available for high-end Galaxy phones and tablets.

Samsung also has dedicated DeX applications for Windows and macOS, which allow users to access the DeX environment on their existing computers. If you were a heavy-duty DeX PC service user, we have bad news for you.

Samsung has updated its website to announce it is terminating DeX support for Windows 7 PC and macOS service starting next year. In fact, macOS users have begun to see a popup message in the app stating that the Dex support for macOS will expire in January 2022.

As DeX for PC support goes, Windows 7 and Mac users will need to use the DeX dock to perform mirror. DeX’s experience is an external monitor. At the moment, all they have to do is connect their phone to their computer using a USB cable and launch the DeX service.

Samsung says those who already have a DeX PC client can continue to use the service, but the company will not offer any support or updates from next year. It looks like Windows 10 users are unaffected and will continue to see further improvements and updates. In February of this year, Samsung added support for DeX wireless mode, allowing users to stream DeX wirelessly to a compatible TV or PC.
