Samsung One UI 4.0 expands limit of free storage with Ram Plus/Virtual RAM

Samsung RAM Plus

Samsung has finally released the Android 12 beta in the form of One UI 4 beta. This latest version of Samsung’s Android skin doesn’t see various changes compared to last year’s One UI 3. However, beta can be installed on selected Galaxy devices with the Samsung member app.

Surprisingly, in line with Android 12, the One UI 4 is focused on customizing its key changes. There are some very comprehensive updates to privacy and device care, but for the most part, these changes are small on the board.

Here’s is one of the notable features is Ram Plus or Virtual RAM in the latest Android 12 based One UI 4.0 beta for Galaxy devices.

Samsung One UI 4.0 – Ram Plus/Virtual RAM

To explain, RAM Plus is a feature that uses part of your device’s storage to create “virtual RAM” that increases the limit on your Galaxy smartphone. For Samsung Galaxy high-end smartphones with more than 8-12GB of RAM, this is probably not a problem, but for low-end devices with hardware limits, this can be a real way to increase or improve overall performance levels.

In One UI 4.0 Beta 2, you cannot disable “RAM Plus” as it is automatically enabled. You can see just how much space is used by going –

  • Settings
  • Device Care
  • Memory.

Here you will be able to clear or unmount RAM and see how much “virtual memory” is received when the system deems it necessary.

We’re not sure if this will slow down or disable automatically if you lack the available space, but it seems to be installed at 4GB. And it’s important to know that this isn’t the same as physically installing 4GB of RAM on your device, but it can help if heavy apps take up app resources or you want to play much-needed games and be happy to sacrifice some of the app’s performance levels.

It is worth noting that this has already been released for some of Samsung’s favorites, including the brand new Galaxy A52 and Z Fold 3, but joining the larger One UI 4.0 architecture could expand it on all devices.
