WhatsApp could soon allow users to pause voice messages while recording

WhatsApp is surely one of the most popularly used messaging apps in the world, but it is not precisely the most feature-rich. For the most part, its features are worthless in comparison to its direct competitors, the Telegram, and the recent Facebook multi-hour outage did not really help its cause.

In any case, Telegram was the biggest winner of the downtime, as it gained a lot of popularity among users. That said, the Facebook-owned service has been working on many things to increase user experience. As identified by WABetaInfo, the future will be reported to allow users to pause voice messages while recording.

In the meantime, you can tap and hold the microphone or slide icon to lock it in place while recording a voice note. This means that if you are disturbed in the middle, the only way to fix it is by deleting the current recording and starting at the beginning.

Alternatively, with this update, Whatsapp will display a “stop” button to pause the recording. When clicked, the pause button will be replaced by a mic button that will enable you to continue your voice note when ready. This can be useful for recording with short bursts and dealing with distractions.

While WABetaInfo has provided only direct evidence of a feature running on iOS, this report confirms that it is also in Android development. That said, it may take a while before you see the world, as the feature is still being developed but up to the stage of beta testing.
