Samsung is the top most prominent Android ecosystem partner, and its push to mainstream Gemini in devices is more recognizable than Google could achieve in Pixel and all other Android devices combined.

At Unpacked 2025, Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S25 series smartphones, but the keynote began with AI and One UI 7 software technologies. These phones are prepared for Google AI from the ground, including Gemini.

To ensure people gets a broader understanding of the new Gemini app, Samsung brought Sissie Hsiao, VP of Google Gemini Experience, on the stage to share details about its use cases.

Samsung executives also promoted this app as the new mobile assistant. For those who’ve tuned into the keynote, may have noticed that the company has said not a single word on Bixby, its home-grown assistant, in favor of Gemini.

This AI assistant aims to provide helpful, personalized and accessible information. You can summon Gemini on Samsung devices with the side button. Feature such Gemini Live also works great on Samsung devices with a wide integration for system applications.

It has replaced the old Google Assistant with Gemini inside and a brand-new UI with a modern look. In real-life experience, this Google app works fast and efficient in the S25 series, and that’s just the beginning of this conversation.

With One UI 7 rollout, Samsung installed Gemini in millions of previously released smartphones including S24, S23 series, S22, alongside, its foldable lineups. After installation, One UI 7 shows a pop-up for side button assignment for Google Gemini.

In May, Samsung is expanding the Gemini to even further by upgrading A-series devices with the One UI 7. This will enable them to get access Gemini, similar to Samsung’s flagship phones.

But Google has many Android partners, and their combined weight is higher than Samsung. That’s true, but you should know that Galaxy smartphones have the most diverse and popular user base in the global market, including the US.

That’s what makes its phones more capable than other Android options, despite using similar processor technology. The Korean tech’s products gets wider public exposure beyond hardware. For example, One UI 7 rollout did a Gemini promotion campaign that Google would not do by itself, and it was an excellent choice from Google to partner with Samsung to expand its user base.

There’s another side to this story, Samsung’s Gemini promotion campaign has enabled other Android phone makers to include this AI capability in their devices, expanding the user base.

Still, the way Samsung is adapting Gemini and popularizing its use in Galaxy smartphones, you may not find a similar approach from other Android ecosystem partners.

The Android Show is a kick-off for the I/O season, the biggest Android event of the year, organized by Google. Here, top executives from the Android development team provided a brief look at the latest features to create excitement for the I/O event 2025 to launch Android 16.

This year, Google announced the new Material 3 Expressive design with UI and user experience upgrade for the Android operating system. These demos are tagged with more accessible Gemini live, new safety and security features and more.

For the Gemini demonstration, Google used the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and it caused discomfort in prominent tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee, known as MKBHD.

“Google continues to use Samsung phones instead of Pixels in their events to demo new Android features” Marques wrote on X with photos of Gemini live on S25 Ultra.

This topic need some clarification for those who are confusing. Pixel belongs to Google, the parent company behind Android, but there’s a separate time and date to launch new Pixel devices every year. So, this was an “Android Showcase” not a Pixel launch, streamlining the Android ecosystem stand a priority and Google showcased Samsung alongside other devices.

To be mentioned, Google used Pixel in presentations for different new stock Android capabilities throughout the showcase. Another logic is that Samsung sells way more devices than any other Android phone maker, and it’s also the most prominent partner in the Google club. Since both companies are also partners, and Gemini requires Samsung’s massive user base, it needs to be showcased on a Galaxy device.

The S25 Ultra, Samsung’s latest flagship, is recognized all around the world and provides a seamless way for Google to market its services such as Gemini. Samsung’s massive reach is the gateway to customers that Google can’t imagine through Pixel.

For newcomers, the Galaxy smartphones are considered as the top-notch devices with best in – class software. Since Google wants to expand the Android ecosystem and newly launched services, its decision to demonstrate the latest features on a Samsung phone is a win-win for both companies.

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge with a slim design, but it’s not the only big news because the company also dropped a major hint about the S26 series.

The S25 Edge comes with a 6.7-inch QHD+ resolution screen and measures 75.6mm, 158.8mm, and 5.8mm for width, height and thickness respectively, and weighs 163 grams. The screen size, height, and width are almost identical to the S25 Plus model.

So, S25 Plus makes a perfect counterpart for S25 Edge? It’s true, but not completely. The new phone lacks long battery capacity, which isn’t the case with the S25 Plus. The same can be said about the 200MP camera in the Edge, missing from the Plus variant. The new device is remarkably thin, but the S25 Plus isn’t. This back-and-forth comparison leads to the price, which is $1,099 for S25 Edge, just above the S25+. These two models have their ups and downs with each other.

It’s not just us, Samsung also published such differences on the official website listing against S24+ and S23+. These previous flagship devices had incremental changes and offer a user-friendly experience. However, comparing these on the official website may be intentional because the company could’ve chosen standard or the Ultra, but it chose the Plus, actually two previous Plus variants.

A new report suggests the S25 Edge is likely to be a warm-up for next year’s S26 lineup. It marks as a different approach, diversifying options for customers in the flagship genre.

I want to point the two comparison segments – size and camera, to show S25 Edge’s superiority. The new phone throws extra stuff such as a premium titanium design, only used in the S25 Ultra.

Despite these favorable numbers, the S25 Edge brings an undeniably low, 3900mAh battery, while the S25 Plus has 4900mAh. This particular spec doesn’t fit for a $1k price tag device, even with a thin design.

With these in mind, we’ve come to three possibilities. First, the company will continue a separate launch event to fill the gap between the two Unpacked events. The second is to replace the S26 Plus with the S26 Edge. Third, make limited S26 Edge units and launch it as the fourth model, in selected markets based on S25 Edge’s customer response.

For now, the doubts remain on Galaxy S26 Plus’s existence and what Samsung will do next with this lineup. However, the Galaxy S26 series is more than 6 months away from release and the company could make some surprising changes out of our speculations.

The S25 Edge suits users who value portability and style. Its 10x AI Zoom is ideal for casual photographers capturing distant subjects. Professionals needing optical zoom might prefer the S25 Ultra, but the Edge balances form and function.

One UI 7 AI Zoom

Google introduced the Zoom Enhance feature with its top-tier Pixel flagship. The function relies on artificial intelligence to enhance the details. It results in improved image output captured using a mobile camera at a certain zoom level.
