Chrome’s new feature will bring Google Photos Memories when opening new tab

Published

on

Recently, Google announced at its Search On the event that it is bringing the performance of its Google Lens smartphone to the Chrome desktop version. The Google Lens is an app that helps identify things and is automatically installed on most Android phones.

Sometime “in the coming months,” Chrome will receive an update to install Lens-style lens search on Chrome. Instead of the old highlight, then right-click, and then “search Google” three-step process, you can search the web page directly with the lens.

In addition to cutting down a few common steps, this also allows you to search Google directly for highlighted content, such as photos or graphics. If you have ever tried to compensate for the arcane results you sometimes receive from the “Google search for image” desktop, the performance of the new Lens can do that job quickly and accurately.

Google has also announced on Search On that it intends to bring in A.I. a model called MUM (Multitask Unified Model) in the mobile version of Google Lens. With MUM, you’ll be able to ask Google questions about anything you’re looking at, or photos you just took. An example used by Google is that MUM found socks that fit a particular shirt and pattern.

Google Lens was launch four years ago. With the advent of the built-in Google Goggles app, Lens is available as an integrated feature of Google Assistant and camera apps, and a standalone app in the Google Play Store.

WhatsApp Reaction Notification feature

WhatsApp for Android is rolling out a new beta update, which enhances user interaction with status updates by developing a new reaction notification feature. Users can identify the new beta update through version 2.24.9.29 on Android devices.

Previously, WhatsApp had been working on a quick reaction feature. The latest beta version goes a step further by providing an option to turn off notifications for ‘Like reactions.’ This means users can choose not to be notified every time someone reacts to their status, which could be particularly useful for those who receive many reactions.

This feature is beneficial as it allows users to reduce disruptions by preventing their notification panel from being cluttered with WhatsApp reaction notifications. But for those who prefer to view reactions at their convenience, this update will allow them to do so without the constant alerts.

Moreover, WhatsApp aims to enhance users’ control over their notifications and let them decide how they want to engage with status updates. This update is still under development, so stay tuned more details will be shared as they become available.
