On Tuesday, Google’s lawyers told the European Court of Justice that ‘Google’ is the most searched word on Microsoft’s Bing search engine. Attorney for Alphabet Inc., Alfonso Lamadrid told the EU General Court in Luxembourg:
“We have submitted evidence showing that the most common search query on Bing is by far Google.”
The search engine giant asked a European Union judge to overturn a record $5 billion fine and revoke the 2018 antitrust order. The judge said that Google had unfairly pre-installed its search application on phones running its Android system.
According to the info, the European Commission alleged that Google made a strategic decision to squeeze potential competitors and establish a near-monopoly market share.
Following this, Google argues that this conclusion is unfair. “People use Google because they choose to use it, not because they are forced to use it,” Lamadrid said. “Google’s market share in general search and consumer surveys show that 95% of users prefer Google over rival search engines. Consistent”.
