Samsung’s Galaxy S21 series smartphone owners have begun using the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 on the Beta channel. This major software update introduces a number of new features and changes over the previous One UI iteration, One UI 3.x.

Alongside bringing minor user interface tweaks, Samsung is also offering a very useful feature that should be praised by every Galaxy consumer. According to the info, Samsung’s Android 12-based One UI 4 Beta update brings a new battery protection feature called Protect battery.

If we go with the feature appearance screenshot shared by Samsung Rydah, when enabled, Protect battery feature breaks the charging at 85% mark. The company believes that charging battery less than its full capacity gains its lifespan.

Recently, the Galaxy foldable phones have received the Android 11-based One UI 3.1.1, which brings the same battery protection feature. However, the company seems to be expanding its availability to more Galaxies, at least flagships.
