Latest WhatsApp beta enables users to delete chat threads from multiple platforms

Published

WhatsApp

WhatsApp has finally added support for many devices earlier this summer, making it easier than ever to send messages to your friends and family even when your phone is not nearby. It’s a huge improvement compared to previous duplicates of the app, which offers four eligible devices to send a message from, even though you’re limited to one phone.

However, some bugs still need to be removed, including deleted chat threads that do not fit well on all platforms. WhatsApp is finally working on optimization, but it may be a while before it goes live.

As spotted in the newest WhatsApp beta, the ability to delete threads on multiple platforms is officially being developed (via WABetaInfo). Once activated, the app will automatically delete conversations on all paired devices, as long as you use updated software to support the feature. Unfortunately, it is not yet live for beta users, so it will be time to move on to a more stable version of WhatsApp.

On the other hand, this is not the only feature missing now when using multiple devices. Pinned conversations, starred messages, and old search history results were not in the early summer launch. However, we can expect as with the removed threads, these tools will reach WhatsApp users on all platforms this year.

What about WhatsApp end-to-end encrypted backups?

On September 10, 2021, WhatsApp end-to-end encrypted backups for Android and iOS devices is officially announced. This feature allows you to further strengthen and protect the privacy of message backups. The Facebook-owned WhatsApp has provided end-to-end encrypted messages for a while now, although that additional security has not been used for backups in the past. [Read More]

WhatsApp Grey Ring feature

WhatsApp is bringing a Grey Ring for status updates via the latest beta update. This update is available for Android users with version 2.24.22.2 through the Google Play Beta Program.

The new feature allows users to view previously seen status updates directly from the chats tab. It makes it easier to revisit content without navigating back to the Status tab.

With this new beta update, WhatsApp is improving how users interact with status updates. In the past, when someone posted a new status, a ring appeared around their profile picture in the chats tab. This ring will disappear once you view the status.

Now, WhatsApp is making a change so that the ring remains visible, even after you have seen the status. However, the ring changes color and turns grey after the status is viewed.

This grey ring indicates that you can still tap on it to view the status again. This makes it convenient for users who want to revisit a status without having to go back to the Status tab.

Currently, this Grey Ring Status feature is available to some beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta update. The feature is gradually rolling out to beta users and WhatsApp plans to make it available to all users soon via future updates.

WhatsApp regularly tests new features through beta updates. Call links and new shortcuts for contacts and group chats are currently under testing. Now, WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that adds a limit on the number of contacts and group chat lists you can create.

The fresh update of WhatsApp arrives with a useful feature, which helps users better organize their contacts and group chats. The update reveals that WhatsApp is working on a new limit on the number of lists users can create.

Users will now be able to make up to 20 lists for organizing contacts and groups. It encourages you to think carefully about which contacts and groups you want to include in your lists.

In addition, WhatsApp is adding a shortcut that lets you quickly add contacts and groups to your lists. This shortcut will be situated at the top of your chats.

At the moment, WhatsApp users can create an unlimited number of lists, which sometimes makes the app confusing. To make it more organized and reduce the app clutter, the new limit is under development.

The new limit feature of the list is currently developing with WhatsApp beta update version 2.24.21.37 and will be rolled out in future updates. Stay tuned for more information as WhatsApp continues to enhance its features for a better user experience.
