Samsung Pay’s American Express card support ends in India
Samsung Pay was introduced in India four years ago with the support of credit cards and debit cards from various banks and financial institutions. Where American Express was among those banks that brought Samsung Pay support in the first phase.
However, the bank has announced that it will terminate Samsung’s support in the country. American Express has sent emails to its customers announcing that Samsung Pay will no longer be available on its cards starting October 1, 2021.

If you are a Samsung Pay user with an AMEX card, you can continue to use it until September 30, 2021. This does American Express is the first bank to end support for Samsung Pay in India. The bank did not explain why it was taking the initiative.
Among NFC-based payment support growing rapidly in India and around the world, Samsung has begun rolling out the MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) to its smartphones. The Galaxy S21 series lacks MST in other countries, including India and the US. The company has also indicated that its future smartphones will not have MST.
In India, mobile payments have seen a moving decline, especially since the emergence of the COVID-19 epidemic. However, most people use mobile payments via BHIM UPI, Google Pay, Paytm, or PhonePe. Samsung Pay supports BHIM UPI payments as well.

You may have heard about Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ achievement of successfully developing ultra-small all-solid-state batteries. These batteries replace flammable liquid electrolytes with solid ones, enhancing safety and reducing many risks.
Apart from Samsung, a North American firm is also said to be working on pure silicon batteries. This technology only uses silicon for the anode as part of promising significantly increased battery life and reduced charging times.

The Korean tech giant recently announced the successful development of oxide-based ultra-small all-solid-state batteries. Samsung has also supplied prototypes to key customers for evaluation before commercializing into consumer products.
Notably, Samsung is the world’s first firm that has achieved the milestone of developing ultra-small all-solid-state batteries. As mass production is expected in 2026, we assume the Galaxy Watch 9 series could boast new all-solid-state batteries.
All-solid-state batteries are cells, which replace liquid electrolytes with non-flammable solids. Samsung is pushing for applications in wearable devices that closely adhere to the body, such as smartwatches and earbuds.
Samsung has pushed the October 2024 security update for its Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 devices. The update is initially available for these devices’ users in Europe and the US, with plans to expand to other regions soon.
The new update enhances system security and stability by addressing various issues to improve overall device performance. The latest security patch includes critical updates from both Google and Samsung.
Notably, Google’s patch resolves 2 critical vulnerabilities and 28 high-level issues, although one of these issues was previously addressed, and two do not apply to Galaxy devices.
On the other side, 12 Samsung vulnerabilities have been fixed which are related to system services and Knox to ensure a more secure user experience. Additionally, Samsung Semiconductor has also added a fix to boost performance.

To manually check for updates, users can navigate to their phone’s Settings, scroll to the Software Update section, and select the “Download and Install” option if a new OTA is available.
Both the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 come pre-installed with Android 14 based on One UI 6.1.1. These foldable devices are set to receive the next major One UI update, expected to be available to developers by year’s end.
A community moderator revealed that a One UI 7 Beta program will soon be accessible to regular Galaxy users. However, details regarding eligible devices and schedules are yet to be confirmed.
