Samsung to host COMMoN online school for aspiring open-source developers

According to the latest info, Samsung will be partnering with partners Arendata and DeepPavlov.ai to host the Community of Open Source Newcomers (COMMoN), an educational program that will give open-source developers the opportunity to move from zero to donating a well-known project under their donor leadership.

The event will take place within the framework of the Samsung Open Source Conference Russia 2021 – the largest event held by Samsung Research every year since 2014.

Classes at the COMMoN online school will run from August 16 to September 10. The training will take place along three educational tracks:

  • Track “ROS – Samsung” dedicated to the Robot Operating System platform – the largest open source and most popular in the field of robotic control.
  • Track “Arendata DB” tells the story of an open database, built on the basis of the heavy DBMS Greenplum.
  • Participants of the third track “DeepPavlov – MIPT” will learn how to create their own Multiskill AI assistants, using an open platform for developing voice assistants and DepPavlov chat chats.

At the end of the process, the partner companies will choose the best one for their track. The methods used for testing will be open source project support, performance, code quality. Winners for each track will be announced and presented at the closing of the Samsung Open Source Conference Russia in September 2021.

Education in online schools The open Student Community is free, the choice is competitive. Anyone can apply and be tested. To do this, you need to register on the conference website, which indicates on the registration form that you want to apply at the COMMoN school.

Then follow the instructions in the book you found. Selection will depend on the results of the online test, which will be available until 15:00 on August 13, 2021 (Moscow time).

The Samsung Research Center opened in Moscow in 1993 and now employs more than 300 trained professionals. The center is known for its extensive scientific and engineering research, which enables it to successfully integrate cutting-edge technology into Samsung devices.

The institute uses student training programs. Experts of the Russian Research Center Samsung have developed educational programs for social projects “Samsung IT School”, “Samsung IT Academy”, and open online courses on artificial intelligence on the Stepik platform.

Samsung announced its AI influencer SAM will participate in the BGS (Brazil Game Show) 2024. BGS is the largest videogame event in Latin America. The event this set to take place from October 9th to 13th in São Paulo, Brazil.

SAM will be available for visitors letting them interact with it through various activities and actions. Adding to this, the AI influencer will be present in various modalities at the Samsung booth during the fair.

Watch Out

At the Watch Out game, SAM will compete alongside gamers. Developed with machine learning technology, Samsung’s Watch Out uses advanced artificial intelligence to work with intelligent agents trained to simulate SAM’s actions in real-time.
