Samsung Galaxy August 2021 Security Patch Updates

Samsung releases several new software updates in a single day, while the figure goes up to millions in just a single month. These s/w updates embed new security patches, Android OS, new One UI versions, bug fixes, and additional features.
Other than the Android OS upgrades, the company follows various security update rollout plans for its numerous device segments such as all the new flagship and select mid-range phones get monthly updates, while the remaining gets once in three months for three years from the first global release.
Apart from the schedule, the South Korean giant promised two additional biannual security updates for all the Galaxy devices launched since 2019 in the fourth year of their first official launch. FYI, select enterprise models are eligible for five years of security and maintenance updates.

BREAKING: Samsung resumes One UI 7 rollout, Galaxy S24 gets new BYD9 update

Samsung starts rolling out a new One UI 7 update to the Galaxy S24 series. Initially available in South Korea, the new One UI 7 BYD9 build should soon go live in more markets. It’s a more refined build over the initial one and contains fixes for the lock screen bug.
This new build marks the resumption of the suspended rollout. As a Galaxy user, I am disappointed, though Samsung deserves praise given a quicker investigation and resolution to the serious glitch encountered by many.
The changelog mentions “stability improvements” for the Galaxy S24 series. It’s a Stable Hotfix update that is currently making its way to devices that have been upgraded to the initial One UI 7 Stable update after April 7 in Korea.
It was reported that the initial One UI 7 update had some serious issues with the unlock functionality that led the company to suspend the expansion. As the One UI 7 rollout has resumed with BYD9 build, users can now expect a swift expansion globally.
To recall, Stable One UI 7 builds disappeared from the firmware server over the last two days. Exynos models were initially affected in South Korea, but the entire rollout has been halted for the Galaxy S24 series, Z Flip 6, and Z Fold 6.
Your Galaxy device may have also received the new build. Notification will arrive late, but you can manually check for the updates within Settings > Software update. Hit Download and install so your phone can fetch a new OTA.

Samsung Galaxy A26 does not support Seamless Updates, unlike A36 and A56

After Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36, Samsung has released the first update for the Galaxy A26 smartphone in Europe. This shows that the Galaxy A26 smartphone does not support seamless updates like the other two Galaxy A series phones.
But do seamless updates really matter? Yes, it allows for installing updates in a faster and more efficient way. Most older Android phones use the regular update method. After downloading an update, the phone has to restart and shows a screen saying “Installing…” During this time, you can’t use the phone, and the process can take several minutes.
Seamless updates work differently. The update is installed in the background while you keep using your phone like normal. Once it’s done, the phone asks you to restart, and then it boots into the updated version quickly. This method is faster, safer, and more user-friendly.
Samsung first introduced seamless updates on the Galaxy A55 5G, and newer phones like the Galaxy A36 5G, A56 5G, and the Galaxy S25 series also support it. That’s why it’s a bit disappointing to see that the Galaxy A26 5G doesn’t have it, just like the other older phones.
Aside from this, the first software update for the Samsung Galaxy A26 smartphone installs the latest Android security patch released in April 2026 to improve system security and stability. Users can identify the update via One UI build version A266BXXS2AYC1 and an installation package size of 300 MB.
You can install the update via Settings >> Software Updates >> Download and install.

Samsung pushes big firmware update to Galaxy Watch 7 in India

Samsung has rolled out a new software update for the Galaxy Watch 7 in India. This update is quite large, about 910MB in size, and comes with the build version L310XXU1AYCD.
This major update was already available earlier in countries including Korea, Europe, and the US. Now, it’s gradually being released in more regions, including India.
Even though the update is big, the official changelog doesn’t mention any new features. However, it brings general improvements to the Galaxy Watch.
The fresh update improves the stability and reliability of the device. That means it fixes minor bugs and issues that users might have faced in older versions. It also installs the March 2025 Android security patch, which helps keep your watch safe and secure from threats.
While Samsung hasn’t shared full details about the update, it is expected to make the watch run more smoothly. If you’re using a Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra in India, it’s important to install the major March update as soon as possible.
To install the update, open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone >> go to Watch Settings >> tap on Watch Software Update >> and tap Download and Install. It will help your watch perform better and stay protected with the latest security updates.

Breaking: Samsung Galaxy S25 gets April 2025 update with new One UI 7 features

Samsung has begun rolling out the April 2025 security update for Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphones. The update is live for users in Korea, and the company will expand it soon to more countries.
Users of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series in Korea can identify the April 2025 security update via One UI build versions given below.
- S931NKSU2AYD9 – Galaxy S25
- S936NKSU2AYD9 – Galaxy S25 Plus
- S938NKSU2AYD9 – Galaxy S25 Ultra
The installation package size of this update is around 780MB. It introduces some new One UI 7 features to the Galaxy S25 series to provide a smoother and better Galaxy experience.
What’s New
The new update brings new stabilization codes to improve camera, charging, and operations to improve device performance. Also, the update installs the latest Android security patch released in April 2025 to improve system security and stability. It improves some functions and adds new features.
However, the changelog does not mention what’s new the update brings, but after installation, you can check the new features. This update reportedly adds new charging animations and a media player in the notification Panel.
With the April 2025 update, Samsung has once again revamped the charging animation in One UI 7. The new animation was already available for One UI 7 Beta users, and now it’s being added to the Galaxy S25 series with this fresh update.
Moreover, the update now also brings Now Bar and Live Notification support for Media Player. Similar to the new charging animation, this feature is already live for Beta testers.
If you are using a Galaxy S25 smartphone in Korea, install the latest update to enjoy new functions. For that, open Settings >> tap on Software Update >> click on Download and install.

Samsung Galaxy S23 may get Android 15 (One UI 7) update next week

Samsung may roll out the Android 15-based One UI 7 update to the Galaxy S23 series next week. The company is currently preparing to resume the stable update release for the Galaxy S24 series, the Z Flip 6, and the Z Fold 6.
As promised, Samsung started releasing a Stable update to its 2024 flagships on April 7. A serious bug caused the deployment to be halted for maintenance. Samsung recently confirmed it has resolved the bug, and the rollout will resume soon.
For Galaxy S23 series users, the wait is almost over. Samsung plans to start delivering the One UI 7 update next week in select regions. The rollout will expand globally through late April, though some areas may see slight delays.
Canadian carrier Telus just listed the Galaxy S23 series on its revised update roadmap. The chart suggests that Samsung will start rolling out the Android 15-based One UI 7 update to the Galaxy S23 series on April 22.
That said, users of the Galaxy S23 series are just a week away from their OS upgrade. It was awaited since August 2024, when the Beta Program typically goes live. The company has also missed the October 2024 timeframe of Stable release.
Samsung’s One UI 7 Beta Program for the Galaxy S23 series kicked off in March 2025, allowing users to test early builds. The stable release follows months of delays, as Samsung prioritized refining the software for a reliable experience.
For now, eligible devices include the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra. Other models, like the Galaxy S23 FE and older flagships, are expected to receive One UI 7 by May 2025, according to Samsung’s phased schedule.
