Samsung Galaxy S8 gets new firmware update even after finishing s/w support two months ago
Samsung started rolling out an unexpected software update for its more than four years older flagship devices that had already finished every type of software update support two months ago. Yup, we are talking about the company’s popular Galaxy S8 series.
According to the info, Samsung released a new software update to the Galaxy S8 series devices in Bolivia. It comes with a newer security patch dated 2021-05-01 and also includes additional improvements. You can check the changelog below.

The changelog of the new Galaxy S8 series software update suggests that it brings improvements to the system Messages and Device Care functions. At the same time, it also enhanced the device stability for a better overall user experience.

Launched back in 2017, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ came with the Android 7.0 operating system out of the box. Later on, the company delivered the Android 8 Oreo update in 2018, followed by Android 9 Pie-based One UI 1.x in 2019.

As these devices get more than 4 years older, in May 2021, Samsung announced that it won’t provide any type of new software update for these devices. However, the latest software update seems the last and the Galaxy S8 users should not expect anything new from Samsung.
However, the update is currently spotted in Bolivia and it’s unknown whether Samsung will expand its availability to other regions or not. Till then, you can check for updates manually by opening your device Settings >> Software updates >> Download and install.

Samsung yesterday revealed the June 2023 Android and One UI security bulletin. As part of its monthly security maintenance release, the company will deliver fixes for 3 critical, 47 high-level of CVEs, and 3 additional Samsung Vulnerability Exposure items.
In addition, it’s expected that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will get a new 2x portrait camera mode, which uses a 50-megapixel resolution. The Korean tech giant has also said to fix the HDR vignetting problem, which can be seen in pictures captured in certain situations.
