Published

on

According to the latest info, GBL Systems Corporation (GBL), a leading provider of system engineering, software services, advanced technology solutions to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), and Samsung, today announced the launch of 5G testbeds, for Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality at U.S. Army military bases.

The 5G testbeds are part of a broader DoD initiative announced in October 2020, which provided $ 600 million in 5G testing agreements at several U.S. military testing centers. GBL and Samsung have been awarded a contract to support one of the largest testbeds, demonstrating the use of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) over 5G network networks.

In the new 5G testbeds, GBL has responsibility for prototype creation, integrate technology, and adapt the solution to DoD requirements. At the same time, Samsung will bring its 5G end-to-end solution and technology solutions, including Samsung’s latest network products, such as Massive MIMO Radios, cloud-native 5G Standalone (SA) Core, and Galaxy 5G mobile devices.

Through the testing process, the two companies will work with DoD to ensure the installation of an awesome, robust, and secure 5G network in AR / VR-based planning and training.

Unlocking 5G-Powered AR/VR

GBL and Samsung will build their 5G testbeds to support new AR scenarios to boost military fitness tests. The simulated scenarios include the real obstacles found on the battlefield, as well as the accumulation of data and weapons-based weapons. Samsung’s 5G solution makes for quality, real-time imagery that is shared by many participants at once.

Samsung pioneered the successful delivery of the first 5G solutions by the end of the year 2018, including chipsets, devices, radios, and core network. With ongoing research and development, Samsung is leading the industry to develop 5G networks with its market-leading product from RAN and Core that have become independent network solutions and Artificial Intelligence (AI) automation tools.

The company currently provides network solutions to mobile phone owners who bring connections to hundreds of millions of users worldwide, including U.S. operator customers.
