At the I/O 2021, Google launched the Android 12 operating system for smartphones and it’s expected to officially release this September. Ahead of the stable release, the company running Beta testing for select Pixel as well as non-Pixel devices from multiple OEMs.
Recently, the search engine giant pushed a new Android 12 Beta update in which developers and beta testers found a new function called “game dashboard.” It’s equipped with tools and various gaming-related options that are quite similar to the Samsung’s Game Launcher and Game Plugins Plus.
According to the info, Android 12’s game dashboard includes an overlay with access to several functions for screen recording, live streaming options, performance adjustments, and more. It comes with a framerate counter for comfortable performance monitoring.
At the same time, developers can also get the advantage of Google’s tools and game dashboard to optimize their games ahead of the stable Android 12 release. At the Games Developer Summit, the US tech giant confirmed that the game dashboard will be backed by new Game Mode APIs.
Compared to Google’s game dashboard, Samsung’s Game Plugins comes with an auto mode and four presets including:
- Battery saving
- Max FPS
- High Quality
In addition, Samsung also offers an option to set custom parameters and a toggle to apply one mode to all the games on the phone.
